I love the design, flow and style of their proposed first ocean going cruiseship - is this Royal Viking reborn?

Naturally, my next reaction is total and utter jealousy..... jealous because Trondheim could NEVER pull ashore such an event.

Thursday, the new cruise vessel 'Viking Sky " was handed down from the Italian shipyard Fincantieri group to cruise giant Viking cruises.
The vessel is the third of six new luxury liner company focuses on.

The official christening of the new ship is set to 22.06.17 in Tromsø, says Viking cruises and Fincantieri. Should we believe the companies, was Northern Norway's largest city a natural choice.

That means grand party at Prostneset. It is not every day that a cruise ship will be christened in Norway. For Tromsøs part is the first time, says Port Director Hallvar Pettersen.

It will be an event Tromsø never had before. Of course we have christened ships here before, but never a cruise ship, says Pettersen.

The city's population is invited. It is envisaged activities for children and youth, there will be concerts - in other words more than a common baptism, says Port Director Pettersen.

There was definately a Royal Viking feeling on board, and as a LOT of her crew were former colleagues, it was truly a very special day to visit this beauty. The interiors are very modern, yet simplistic in the traditional Scandinavian style. The interior architects have done their work really well. There is no doubt that they are selling the Scandinavian feeling on board.
