    Thanks Jan-Olav for the comment.

There was a low cloud cover with some rain when I took the picture, so it was a little darker than usual.
But, as we approach mid-August, it begins to darken late in the evening now.

I see the same here - especially during nightwatches. The change is significant!

Summer is like the best time of the year - but only last one-two or just short of three months.

Can't say I'm looking forward to start a nightwatch in darkness and finish it next morning in the same darkness.

With some snow in the air and little deck lights from Kong Harald, it was a bit difficult to get good pictures tonight.

I wish I lived on the coast with lovely ships regularly offering themselves to my camera. I could take photos of passing road traffic but it wouldn't be quite the same.

Kong Harald has a nice Christmas star, unlike the other ships, she has a red dot/circle in the middle of the star.

There is however something spooky with this latest image: as if she is coming out of a fog sneaking up to her dock.

A German friend pointed me at a film that ARD showed for the first time on the 1st day of this year. Based on a trip north on KH in the summer, and the return trip in the winter. Rather enjoyed it - even if for a Norwegian and an Englishman we didn't pick up all of the dialogue! Lots of Honningsvåg, good to see a mention for the coffee club, and good to see people that we know from previous years 'doing their thing'! Loads of lovely photography though.

Thank you for the link Mark. It's a great film with very aesthetic pictures. I will write to Santa Claus to ask for a new trip onboard!!

That reminds me of so many wonderfully calm nights at Rørvik... seeing the HRG-ships arriving and departing in the night. You have managed to capture this super sharp, you can even make out the person standing in the window of the forwards observation lounge above the bridge.

I'm impressed how you manage to balance your settings so well that you get the perfect exposure of the ship, AS WELL as not over-saturating the lights from inside the ship. Looking in the lounge windows, you are still fully able to make out the interior and people!

The Stralsund sister has never been "pretty ships" in my eyes, but you have captured a great image of the Kong Harald anyhow.

Would be nice to sail with these ships again, but with the prices they are operating under, I'd rather do a cruise in the Caribbean.
