Thank you, I have no idea why they appear to look "a little unsharp" at this end. Other images appears to be OK.

          Majestetiske.

Still so amazing to see this old gal still steaming around, up and down the coast.

Passed "relatively" close to Lofoten recently with my own ship, and my goodness, Lofoten is so tiny!

The old girl was looking good in the sun outside Rørvik on Wednesday evening.

          Cheers,

She maybe tiny but she packs a punch!!!!

          Great images Mark!

So sad that the ships no longer stay at the dock in Trondheim and Rørvik anymore. Life moves on, and everything must change for some reason. Progress they call it. I'm not so sure.

Funnily enough, it was the opposite for me :-) - I immediately spotted the Lofoten in the image, and asked myself "and where is this AIDACara supposed to be?" until I saw her, white in front of snow :-) (and yes, hello everyone - I haven't visited the forum for a while and am now catching up reading what has been posted in the last months...)

              Trouble for "Lofoten"

Since tuesday, October 01, we have had a problem with the machine, more specifically with a regulator.. This problem has proved a little more difficult to repair than we first thought, and now we have canceled our voyage Bodø-Kirkenes-Bodø, says Captain Eivind Lande onboard "Lofoten"

We were a little optimistic earlier in the week and thought maybe we would get away on wednesday. Unfortunately it did not go, and now we are instead trying to resume our route southbound from Bodø night to monday, says Captain Eivind Lande.

Thank you as ever for informing us of things as they happen, and in this case especially it is of course concerning for all us friends of the traditional ships on this forum.

"Lofoten" arrived in Tromsø this morning after much trial sailing in the Saltfjorden south of Bodø yesterday.
Then everything is fine with the regulator and she will sail south on route from Tromsø night to sunday.

Good news I can take more interest in the engineering problems when I know the Old Lady is back on track!

Wonderful to have her back again - she is the very last of the Hurtigruten vessels I have any special love for (of those still in service at our coast). The new ships no longer fascinate me, and are no longer interesting to me. It was the old generation ships I fell in love with.

The day when these ships no longer sail along the coast, it will be a very sad day for many.

Especially when Lofoten is no more.

Anyone heard any rumours as to what she will do after retirement from the coast?

Soon... we will see them sporting their Christmas decorations as well.
