    That must be the "Finnmarken".

EDIT: I belive the vessel in the background there on picture nr. 2 is "Harald Jarl".
The first one is definitely Finnmarken, and I agree (based on the hanging lifeboats) that the ship in background on second picture must be either the Kong Olav, Nordorge or Harald Jarl.

Don't look so much on the lifeboats this time. Based on the row of windows, it must be HJ, because the other two has some with very short in between the windows and some with longer between.
HJ is the only one with constant space between windows..

You got it. I studies some old pictures, and it can be confirmed to be HJ!

Lofoten was back in Rørvik this evening, beating southbound Finnmarken to the pier, April 11th 2009: hope the images are to all your liking.

Fantastic pictures. But even on Lofoten there are nearly no people outside!

Ah, but you can see they have been because the blue chairs are scattered around the decks. The stop in Rørvik is quite often around dinner time . . .

                I just wonder:
When sailing up and down the coast in all kinds of weather and splashing from heavy seas...., what about the draining from the open top lifeboats...?
Isn't it rather unusual to not have a cover...?
Are there plugs removed when sailing, and if so...., what happens if there should be a sudden need for the lifeboats...?
Running all around "Lofoten" looking for the lifeboat plugs...?

                I ask only because I don't know...

Actually, the solution is quite simple.... there is a small pipe/drain/cage in the bottom of the boat. When out of the water, the cage is open and therefore empties the boat (drains the boat). When the boat is put on the water, a small ping-pong ball inside the cage floats up and plugs the hole...

I may not have described it the correct way, but I think you get the general idea.

                    You describe it very well!!!

The thing is in othre words constructed so that the crew is in no need to think about it at all because the "thing" will open and close automatically out of or in water..., thanks!

"Lofoten" southbound in Kristiansund this afternoon. Here she's seen as she sail into the harbour. Got a vdo of her as well, sounding the southbound signal and I will try to upload that one to YouTube later....

Yes, I'm fairly satisfied with my "new" spot place there. I guess you could say that the rock to the left there on some of my more resent hurtigrute-images is my kind of 'Ohimara'....

Hahahahahaha...., yeah..., you could say that!
But why does "Lofoten"s horn sound like it's blowing in syrup...? Do they use old fashioned steam...?
The other ships in the fleet have rather clear and distinct "two long-one short-one long" whereas "Lofoten" sounds like she struggle to even blow one entirely long blow and make pauses in between the long and short...
