I’d also remembered that Carina intended to make a video of the approach to Risøyhamn. Mustn’t get in the way of that. We are nearly there!

She was not the only person filming the approach…

…and then there on the quay, photographs were being taken looking at the ship…there was our dear CVF member “Harald Jarl”.

One can never have too many photos of the charming arrival/departure board in my opinion.

Evelyn – or H-J as I tend to think of her – had a very definite plan of action regarding things to see and photograph around the ship and I accompanied her, following behind once the route was clear for the video walk-about bits!

Carina, on the other hand, was being filmed.

              Descending the stairs…

…H-J and I go exploring, right down to the not-always-accessible A deck, which was the subject of discussion on the forum recently.

Now how about this – an emergency exit through a toilet! This was something I just had to photograph.
Of course safety is a really serious subject…but I couldn’t help getting very giggly, thinking that it might give a whole new context to the phrase about being caught with your trousers down!

Returning to the more familiar parts of the ship we take the not-so-easy-to-take shots of the delightful glass windows between the bar and the cafeteria.

                    Comment

This shows the position of the excursions desk. The posters behind it cover where some of the glass windows had once been broken in a storm and had to be replaced. At the other, café, side, a table had been removed to make way for a shop display.

So photography was here combined with shopping for Nordstjernen T-shirts! And at this point the ship was nearing Sortland –so it seems a convenient place to pause, before continuing the story in the next instalment!

                      Next…Sortland to Stokmarknes

Such great pictures Cecilia. I love your eye for details.

How familiar all this is looking. Especially when crowded with people i know now personally. And you have the eye for the special atmospere on the old ships. All is looking a little bit improvised... and exactly that is so cosy!
It is a feeling like at home...

I don't like it, when everything is too clean. I need to live in a room, not to be part of an exhibition.

Oh, and thank you for pointing out the A-deck, which is the German C-deck on Lofoten.

And who else would notice the special emergency exit, if not a true geek. Thank you so much for pointing that out, Cecilia!

More than filmed I would guess. I spot an NRK microphone battery and sender kit hanging on her pocket there.
So when will NRK air this program, (and possible interview with Carina), about the Star...?

When we were on Nordstjernen in Svalbard a few years ago we were in Cabin 304 and I was amused to see that the Fire Exit was straight through our cabin and out through the window! That could have been interesting!

It was so lovely to be a part of the crew again for one day. And I wasnt to much around in the passengers-area during the trip, which made me feel a little bad for not talking that much with you, Cecilia, so I'm glad to read what you wrote here

The video from Risøyrenna is sent to Clipper. Wonder if he got it? I havent heard anything..

NRK followed me on a photo-round onboard, had a interview in the front salon, pluss one on the bridge with me and the captain, and a round at the hurtigruten museum. I wonder if anything of that will be included in the documentary. I'm not really a good talker..
They havent set a date for the documentary yet, but they assumed late summer/fall.

I love seeing these photos so much!! It's like reliving the goodbye-trip.
And especially since I didn't take that many photos myself. I thought I would have a filled-up memory card after this trip, but I hardly touched my camera.
                                I was just there..
