A new video from TKTV, showing the last arrival and departure by "Nordstjernen" . No comments, no one talking, just accompanied by the Willie Nelson translated song performed by the Dance With A Stranger vocalist Øyvind Elgenes aka ELG.

Oh yes...., I did not comment on your pictures Cecilia, but as said here they are great. I just see it as an understatement....
And of cours, as usual with my patience, I hope there's more

Thank you Cecilia and HurtigruteHelge for your wonderful reports. Again it is clearly to see, that it is a great pleasure to see the same journey with different eyes. Both of you are looking at the details, presenting us unusual perspectives. And each has his individual note! HurtigruteHelge's pictures have so much working atmosphere, look at these flags lying on the deck... or the picture of the working zone at the stern... or the scarred hull of the ship. And Cecilia is reporting, how the TV team is reporting the unloading of a fork lifter... and the view to the departing Midnatsol... od course the happy crew.

And - we had it several times by different photographers: this unbelievable Pakarang-look of her bow. Such classic lines! Just great!

It's really beautiful to see all these different points of view on this last voyage. It brings me both smile and tears. Thank you so much for sharing.

                    WAOW.... no, wait....

                    WAOW (is more appropriate!)

Thank you all for keeping and adding these last moments of service on CVF alive while I was away and not able to follow myself...

So many great images to look through.... can't thank you all enough.

When time permits, my own images will come as well.... but it won't be anything even near as "waow" as what all of you presents here.

Just in case, just in case, not mentioned before:

Wonderful to read all the comments from everyone…
I was going to say :-
“Amazingly, exactly one week after my first day aboard NX, I am already posting episode 2!!!!!!..This surely has to be some kind of record…ok I figured that hotel room views, 366 photo project, and even nice photos around Harstad with Kristian and Olaf would just have to wait a while”.

See –I even had it typed ready to post into CVF!!!!!

But I just HAD to go out for a while yesterday….at the beginning of “British Summer Time”, summer really did come to Edinburgh with the most extraordinary high temperatures and no wind whatsoever. I guess I had a preview of this on my last day in Bergen. Whereas I’d told pakarang he really needn’t have specially laid on Edinburgh weather for me passing through Trondheim, meaning the continuous rain, and then this happens!!!!
Sorry Summer wasn’t heading your way pakarang.

Well let me pick up the story of my time aboard Nordstjernen as she leaves Harstad….

As the ship passed Trondenes church just after leaving Harstad, I went out on the aft deck and enjoyed a moment of quietness and a rather extraordinary feeling of having the ship entirely to myself!
Simple explanation of course…everyone else was at breakfast, whereas I’d had mine early at the hotel in Harstad…but I can tell you that standing there alone with my thoughts was something special…

Before long the scene changes…folk emerge, there is now the buzz of lively conversation and the click of cameras…and even the sun has come out to greet us.

People are finding favourite places…even up on the boat deck it is apparently warm enough to sit and read.

But, as I say, it had been a while since my breakfast coffee, so I headed indoors, clutching my red mug. However I didn’t get as far as the cafeteria for that is when I discovered the German Hurtigforum members! They have a little table flag and are comfortably established right next to my favourite seat in the aft lounge! I’m sure I have more photos of their group later, but right then I was busy introducing myself and apologising for my total lack of German language.

So I had to explain in English about the next photo!…about my travel mascot Sea-Troll and the tradition of photographing him in appropriate circumstances! What could be more appropriate than sitting next to their forum flag!

There had been a few changes around the ship since my last time aboard. Next to the table where the German group was sitting there was a desk for the excursions tour leader. On this voyage this was Asgeir who I had met on a number of previous occasions, but had the feeling that he had managed to avoid being subjected to the embarrassing photo opportunity with Sea-Troll! This omission was speedily remedied! He was actually very popular with Sea-Troll for mentioning it was about time there was a golden stripe or two on the shoulder of his Hurtigruten uniform!!!!

Here is Asgeir with Carina. If I was finding this last trip of Nordstjernen’s emotional, I can only begin to imagine what Carina must be feeling, having worked aboard the ship.
If I didn’t seem to chat too much with you Carina it was because I simply wanted you to spend that precious day meeting up with your former colleagues as much as possible…as well as having time to capture your own memories with your camera in your inimitable way.
