      Moored in Torvik, she will skip all calls in Møre og Romsdal county, pass Trondheim, and sail directly to Rørvik.

        Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

        Yikes, she's already passed Vigra at this moment, doing 13 kts!!!
        But, now they have more time available than necessary to meet schedule in Rørvik. A quickie in Trondheim, perhaps?

        One never knows what "the elusive lady" is up to...

              Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

              Have no idea. 4 circles, in slow speed.. Maybe they had to wait for the Harstad-inhabitants to wake up and come down to moor them
              or maybe there was a boat (or two) by the quay they had to wait for..

                Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

                Well she'd run non-stop from Bodø to Harstad

                so doesn't that mean Carina's right? Just too early for anyone to meet her?
                Cheers,

                    It's obvious that there's a slight difference in size between these two! Thank you for the pictures Kristian!

                      Looking at this great photo makes me think about this grand old lady, and the fact that this is the third "Midnatsol" she's sharing the line with

                        Re: ::: Nordstjernen :::

                        Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum - that is, newly registered, but I have read it now for a long time as an unregistered guest. I think it is the best place to come if you want to know what's going on with Hurtigruten and especially the lovely old ships I like so much. Short introduction: I'm from a land-locked country, that is... Switzerland. Although we certainly have a beautiful landscape (and fjord-like lakes with well-preserved paddle steamer fleets ), I would prefer what Norway has: Mountains and the sea

                        I have a fascination for seafaring and ships, especially older ships. In late January/early February 2006, I travelled with the "Lofoten" from Bergen to Kirkenes and back (meeting Nordstjernen in Rørvik); in July 2007, I was on the Svalbard cruise with the "Nordstjernen", and in February 2011 again with the "Lofoten" from Bergen to Kirkenes (I quite like travelling in winter).

                        Well, and this is the reason I'm posting here: I would like to share with you a slideshow video I made from some of my pictures of "Nordstjernen" and "Lofoten". I'm an amateur with no great skills in photography, but I think that I occasionally manage to capture something interesting :-). On Lofoten in 2006, I had the chance to visit the engine room, so the video includes some photos from there, which, I think, isn't seen very often. Also, I found music for the video which I think is very fitting - in fact I tried to match the images to the music as smoothly as possible. It's intended to be a "music video" :-) - The music is freely licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license, as is my video, so you are free to share or reuse it, as long as you give attribution.

                        I uploaded the video at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...nen.theora.ogv - and I hope you enjoy it

                        By the way, the photos were taken using:
                        a) an old "Praktica" SLR, made in GDR (e.g. the engine room photos)
                        b) a Sony Ericsson S700i photo-mobile phone
                        c) a HP Photosmart 850 digital camera
                        d) a Samsung WB 650 digital camera

                            Gestumblindi,
                            it's an honour to read your posting and see your pictures. They have a very genuine feeling and truly are carrying that wonderful Hurtigruten feeling all the way here to Sweden. Good choice of music, brings a kind of epic feeling to the slide show.

                              4 pictures of Nordstjernen leaving Harstad. This was back in 2007. (I was almost shocked when I saw the date of the photos. Time is flying...)
