    Re: Sjøkurs ex. Ragnvald Jarl

I didn’t know Sjøkurs sailed through the Kiel channel, so this is the end of my report. At home I read Sjøkurs and Fram had to wait many hours for passing the lock. I was on a camping side only a short distance from the ferry Glückstadt-Wischhafen. If I had known this before or the actually position…

If someone wonder, why I didn’t visit more ships….

The harbour birthday in Hamburg is the biggest in the world. There are many fantastic things but it is a nightmare, too. For a distance I normally walk in 10 minutes I needed more than one hour. I stood minutes on the stairs to the S-Bahn station, trapped in a crowd and it was impossible to do one step.
All people were in good mood but this is not funny. Visiting Sjøkurs, having lunch at the lightship and getting a stamp from the German and the Norwegian post office needed all day long. I missed the musical rats, when I reached the stage there were only 10 minutes left.

As it is today, the cabins are occupied by: captain, cheif officer, boatsman, two school-teachers (in the school-season),
the electrician, plus a few free cabins, available for guests

Thanks for the warm welcomes. If there is any questions you'd like to ask about Sjøkurs, I will do my very best to answer them all. It is amazing how many people who knows about this little ship, and it sure is a delight that so many are interested in it. We had a LOT of visitors when in Hamburg at the hafengeburtstag this year.
It was a pleasure to have so many kind and interested people onboard. It was particulary fun to see all those faces looking throught the door to the hallway where some student cabins are located. Always made me smile

I wouldn't say that she's being so well kept, but they're trying

                    Dear all,

Here is little curious me asking one of those questions again.... what is that jet of water coming out from her bow from the images taken in Stavanger in post number 98?

Good question, I am waiting for an answer. Water often flows out from different points of a ship and I always wondered where it comes from.

And Ralf - yes, I was a short time on Sjøkurs, only three weeks.
There is hope for some photos more. At the moment I am busy working in the garden and collecting Blueberries and Blackberries in the forest. But I am sure the nights will be longer soon and I will switch on my PC more often.

I'm just guessing, but I think it actually might be an overflowing water tank.... the fore-peak tank maybe?

If nobody else know the answer, maybe I can ask sometime the next years when I am on board again?

I took a photo from the cabin plan as an addition to the question post number 81.

One of the traditional wooden boats for the exhibition in Husavik - or is it a lifeboat?
