Doesn't work for me either - on a fairly fast link here.

So you'll have to wait until I have edited and posted to YouTube to hear the sound of that old engine.

I particularly love the Geiranger-Hellesylt photos - as Yves says, they brings back many happy memories of past travels.
    Cheers,

    Mark.

Yes, this is definitely YTTERØY on the way back to her service at Levanger-Ytterøy.

I wonder how the TEXELSTROOM would have worked on my fjord.... I doubt her low freeboard would have been great, nor the lack of bow.

First compare the dimensions. She is a real big one, so maybe the bow is looking lower that it is. But for sure the Texel-Den Helder route is normally not hidden by high waves. And if, they will stop the service, i guess. But we have members very close to it, maybe they have more information.

You are so correct Ralf, this is indeed a much larger ferry.

I did find this online information on her:

"The ferry is 135m-long and 28m-wide, and has the capacity to carry 1,750 passengers and 350 vehicles."

That is a lot of passengers! 3 times what mine can carry... and three times the vehicles too!

Awesome new additions - thanks for sharing with us all, and with me.

Vaggasvarre image is also really interesting with the reflections on her hull, showing off all her years of paint-layers.

Usually car ferry BARØY sail between Bognes and Lødingen, but today she made a call to Kristiansund on her way to Leirvik in Sogn.
BARØY was built at Remantowa, Gdansk, Poland and delivered to company Torghatten Nord AS in December 2012.
The length is 93 meters, she is 16,8 meters wide and can hold 320 cars and 390 passengers. Her operating speed is 17 knots, with 20,8 knots as top.
What she's doing in Leirvik? I don't know.

Very nice shots of the BARØY by you, Sterkoder.... as far as I know, she was headed to Leirvik i Sogn for her annual maintenance and repairs. She might even still be there.

Thank you also Tom McNikon for sharing those images of the Bastø-ferries... not too different from the new battery ferries we get in about a year on Trondheimsfjorden.

Nobody should go to sea without at least one Stress less. (Tell that to Hurtigruten before they create more "grandmother's sitting room" on their boats)
