Car ferries in operation between Labuan F.T. and the Sabah mainland, East Malaysia:

Wouldn't much on the Norwegian fjords during a winter storm, but Sabah is the "land below the winds" so they do fine here.

Here is more on the cross-harbour ferries in Penang.
              Departing from Georgetown:

On this trip the upper deck was not used for cars.

              Upper deck with passenger facilities:

No Svele to be had here.

There are a total of six ferries available for this crossing. Here is one heading in the opposite direction:

The ferry dock at Butterworth side:

Crossing time is abt. 15 min. only.
Payment is made only on the Butterworth side only. No charge when you go from Penang Island to the mainland, whether by Ferry, or any of the two Bridge.

A fantastic site for anyone even remotely interested in photographs of passenger ships, Søren Lund Hviid's paxpix:

I so much enjoyed these ferry photos, and the ways you portray the ships in the context of their surrounding environment. Particularly thrilled by Bodø and the national mountain.

Very nice photo-series Kristian! Very well done - so happy to see that you are still taking those images and sharing them! Thank you!

That is an impressing sight, indeed!
I wonder what happened with the cars inside. Normally the are not leached on a ferry route like this.
But at this angle they should move?!

You would have thought so wouldn't you, although the reports don't seem to mention anything. This one (with another great photo) does talk about a Freight trailer overturning though.
