Re: Cruise Ships of the World

I love that last photo Wesley. I don't think many of us have posted a stern quarter turning photo. Very unique! I can not wait to see more.

This little luxury cruise ship was so small it was able to dock at Albert Quay, St Helier, Jersey. Most cruise ships have to send tenders out to St Helier harbour.

Nice to see Hebridean Princess again. The company was in trouble, but has now be taken over. The Queen spend a two week holiday on her during July.

When you all go cruising, make sure you all have your insurance papers in order.

In this Norwegian article, they give you the worst case but actual, scenarios on the costs inflicted should you fall ill on board:

Re: Cruise Ships of the World

While we embarked Pacific Princess in Piraeus, Greece P&O's Aurora was docked next to us and luckily she left harbor an hour ahead of us so I could get some shots.

I could not resist the urge to sneak in another tug boat somewhere.

One of the better viewing locations aboard Aurora.

Until then I did not know she had two fold out platforms on each side of her bow. All four platforms had crew observing/enjoying the view as they pulled out into the busy harbor.

Piraeus harbor was quite busy with several ferries sneaking by as Aurora backed out of her slip.

Oops, another tug boat got into the shot.

If you look closely in the windows you can see the reflections of our ship. Can you see my reflection anywhere?

I assume these windows are for the children's area.

I've pulled Happy Dolphin up in my posting schedule because of her recent economic problems: http://maritimematters.com/2011/09/u...es-operations/ I think the timing works out that she had one cruise after these pictures were taken before she left her crew stranded and unpaid.

I had to move quick as Happy Dolphin came into view. She had just been pushed up to the dock in Istanbul, Turkey.

My camera must have slipped and this tug somehow ended up in the center of this photo.

She seems to have a few balcony cabins from this view.

We were spinning around before docking so I didn't have time to change lenses. 24mm was not wide enough to get all of her at this range. A bit more boring in this view though I do like the "space ship" lounge a la Royal Caribbean.

The plight of the crew of Happy Cruises is a disgrace and I feel so sad for the crew which are stuck on board, with limited food and 4 months of unpaid salaries.

I hope the ITF will hear their plight and step into action ASAP.

Great feeling of the activity of a busy harbour you have caught in those images…(oh look, a tug!)

Thank you Dane for those topical photos of the sadly now not-so-happy Happy Dolphin.

I really do not know what the crew does when basically abandoned in port especially when the official story from the line is that they have temporarily ceased operations but have not declared bankruptcy. As a crew member you were never paid much and what you did get you sent home to family. Then the line does not pay you for 4 months so you are out of cash and stuck in a foreign port on the other side of the planet from home and you don't speak the language. The country may not allow you off the ship to enter their country since you obviously don't have a plane ticket home, no money and no job. The country might not help you because the cruise line is officially still in business and you are their problem.
