to Amsterdam the ''visco I'' and ''Visco II''

''visco I'' is the barge and ''visco II'' the motorvessel

every part have to have a name, most of the shippers give them than a name with I and II as extra

also had seen an vessel with the barge name Nova and the motervessel Zembla
or Bermude for the barge and triangle for the motorvessel

It must take great skill and years of experience to be able to navigate those long vessels in all the canals. Would be "fun" to learn that as a skill too...

It would still be a great learning experience to "walk with them" for a month to learn their tricks and ways. Hope some day....

Yes it seems you have to be an artist when you are at the helm!

The look like airliners landing in a strong crosswind.

It must be hair-raising to be at the helm in such circumstances. The concentration and skill shown is incredible

we had seen this vessel before when Ralf posted a video when she sails into a lock.
this is a longer video from a trip from Amsterdam to Lyon .
Dutch spoken sadly for you all, but sometimes a French talk .
but nice to see which locks and small canals they sailed,so for that it's nice to see the video

                      your welcome

Thank you, Thijs for posting these videos. River ships are very interesting, so it was a pity that there threads were sleeping for so long. I never noticed, that strong winds are such a skill for these ships. So i learned something new today.
