    WOW... thanks all of you for the variety and beautiful images you all have shared.

    Just saw the POLARSTERN on local TV here.... great seeing her here on CVF too.

    The photography is a delight!

    At first, I thought Polarstern is nuclear driven (logo on funnel), but I think she is just a conventional ship from what I can gather.

    She will join the Polarstern on her trip and give her support during the first weeks. I think they will leave both today towards the Arctic.

    Russian icebreaker "Akademik Fedorov" arrived in Tromsø earlier today.
    They came directly from Murmansk.

    Polarstern starts at 20.09.2019 to a one-year expedition on the traces of Roald Amundsen and his Fram. Drifting one year through the arctic.
    She will be "catered" by Russian, Swedish and Ciniese ice breakers during her trip. In winter they will be delivered by trains.
