HOUSTON. Departing from the port of Rotterdam

    Comment

Just trying to post Sterkoder's photos from the other day - they wouldn't work for him in this thread, so as part of fault-finding, I'll try again from here:

      Cheers,

I was initially enthusiastic about seeing that 'like' button when we moved to the present version of the software, thinking I could use it as I do on Facebook (NOT as described in your PS ombugge! ). But I soon realised that it is merely the feature called 'Reputation' that has always existed in the old software but which we didn't use. I can understand that in a forum with a HUGE membership it might be useful for new people to look at the members list and immediately pick out those whose posts others appreciate and like (as opposed to simply those with the most posts, the 'quality' of which isn't necessarily high!)
'Reputation' is irrelevant on a forum like CVF with a small membership where everyone soon gets to know each other.

I use a "thanks" button in another forum which employs vbulletin.
There is no "like" button, and I wouldn't use one if it existed. Saying 'thanks" means the same as "like" but somehow seems more appreciative of the effort taken to sort out and post something.

Thanks for the clarification re ISIS !!

re: the like button, I guess the forum users are smart and not going after 'like' points

As Naripalmer said, it is more of an appreciation, and with a button, saves time than typing *for lazy folks ..
