Thank you Thijs! Ooh no, I was at the wharf side when the Swan came gliding in. I did think "I was here first", but it was me who moved first! LOL

I couldn't resist this fun one of animals in shop window, so unusual to see a swan. Broughty Ferry, Dundee, Scotland.

There are really so many stunning wild-life photos in this thread - they beat anything in the picture books. Thanks to all of you for showing them, and keep them coming.
In fact, this thread has spurred me on to get a season ticket for Africa Alive at Kessingland, not far from me.

These are among the most beautiful animals in the whole world... and the tiger being at the brink of extinction.

What an amazingly tragic loss it would be if they go extinct.

I really despise the people who trade in tiger-medicines and tiger skins... killing them for the profit of money... there are so FEW tigers left in the world, the alarm bells are ringing.

Oh goody…just when I’d liked the ducks at the power station so much in the Trondheim thread, I’m instantly rewarded with more!
I am delighted with that first image especially (…the how many ducks can you fit into a pond/photo one!!!!! ) Seriously, it’s a special image, almost becomes abstract, … the restricted subtle range of nature's own colour palette, spiced with that rich green and those yellow and orange bills….

Jan-Olav Storli, I looked at #145.1 and thought: now, how has he Photoshopped that? But then #145.5 explained all. But seriously, as Seagull remarked, it is like an abstract. Half-close your eyes and the pattern of colours and shapes stands out. I always think of this type of photo as a wallpaper one, not repetitive but of all over interest without any prominent feature. I like it.
Those look like Whooper swans, I think. At first I thought Bewicks, but they all have very individual bill patterns whereas yours seem to be all alike.
#145.6, very atmospheric pic., but cold, so cold!

I like your bird photos, Joe, particularly that first one, delightful. Its muted shades of black, white and greys make the backs of the birds look very velvety, and I love the little flicks of subdued light on the water.
That's a heron in the last one, isn't it? Unmistakable stance.
