Nice place to have a villa?:

      On a hill behind Torrox.

We also visited the nearest town to the West, Torre del Mar.
It sports a very large Shopping mall:

Before heading back to Norway we spent two nights in a place called Manilva Beach, which is a bit West of Marbella and fairly close to Giraltar.

Not much to show from that place, but here is the development we stayed in:

Nothing very remarkable, except that it was not white:

This statue at a nearby Plaza was the only other picture I got from there:

We did an excursion into Gibraltar, which has been reported on earlier in another thread.

The next day we went to Malaga for the flight back to Norway. Our week in Spain was over, as is this report.

Also a very touristy place, with the main attraction being Europa Point:

With the obligatory cannon and a fellow that looks like he has been there for a while.
That guy.... is that just a general sculpture or anyone famous?

              And the answer is.....................
The Balcón de Europa was made famous by King Alfonso XII (1857 – 1885) and his statue can be found at the far end.

King Alfonso XII (1857-85) was king of Spain from 1874 to 1885 and was the son of Isabella II. He went into exile with his parents at the time of the revolt of the Carlists in 1868 and was educated in Austria and England.

In 1870 his mother abdicated her rights in his favour, and in 1874 he was proclaimed king. Supported by Martínez de Campos and Cánovas del Castillo, he consolidated the monarchy, winning greater popularity for it than it had enjoyed under his mother or grandfather, Fernando VII.

He was a victim of the cholera epidemic of 1885. His widow, Maria Christina (1858-1929), was regent during the minority of his posthumous son, Alfonso XIII.

Re: This is Costa del Sol, Spain

Thank you for this report. I never had a "private" look at this part of spain, where so many Germans spend most of their holidays. I think, i will never join them, but it was really interesting to be there at least virtual. I am still wondering about the eagle on #41/3. Is it from a second building behind? I can not imagine, that it is a German (Reichs)eagle, normally we don't use them anymore, so it would be interesting to figure that. Can you reconstruct the adress of that house?
