It is the Navarro Street bridge, San Antonio, Texas. She crosses the famous river walk, the place to go in San Antonio with cafes, restaurants, museums and and and.
The Tower in the background is the "Tower Life Building".

Yes, it is indeed over a river.

I have just done some research on that tower for you Ralf and have discovered something that may be of importance. Since the photo in my puzzle was taken, the transmitter you see on top of the tower has been removed. The building is now topped off with a tall flag pole. This returns the tower to it's original condition.

Wow! Spot on Ralf! You found that in the time it took me to research the tower! Very impressive work on your part. So how did you get there, via the bridge?, or via the Tower of Life building?

            Re: What place is this?

It was actually the tower. However, i was surprised that it is such a tall building. I was searching for a water tower or a factory tower. But with the keyword historic i nailed it. Then it was a bit of search to find out the bridge, because there are hundreds of pictures of the River Walk at Google Earth.
Thank you also for the map. I was almost lost with the clue sub-tropical. Your map guided me back on the right track.
I will take my time to look for a new puzzle. So if anyone wants to step in to shorten the weekend, feel free to do so.

There has been a flurry of activity in the last few hours while I've been busy on other things and very well done Ralf, to get it so quickly.

                      Is this Waldsassen Abby Library??:

After searching German Libraries with a variety of additions I eventually tried with "Monastery", since the roof decorations appeared to be religious in nature.
                      That did the trick.

There are literary dozens very similar pictures, ones you know the name.

You nailed it, Ombugge. It is Waldsassen. It is famous for the wooden figures, which are over-life-sized and really impressive!
These figures were made by the local Artist Karl Stilp.

                        http://www.abtei-waldsassen.de/index...thek_fotos.htm

Also famous are the pictures at the ceiling, made also by a local artist, Karl Hofreiter.

A little bit spooky is the visit of the monasteries Basilika. 10 "holy bodies" are displayed there in wall vitrines. Reportedly these are the mortal remains of martyrs, which were bought between 1688 and 1765 in Rome to underline the relevance of this place.

A strange kind of "bone-tourism", comparable with the remains of the Three Kings, which are reportedly laid out in the Cologne Cathedral.

Well done, over to you again!

Aaah. The falcon was waiting and immediately precipitaded as the puzzle appeared. I did not even see it, but it is already solved. Gosh, how dangerous to throw a puzzle in here.
Another comparison: it feels like feeding alligators or piranhas!!

I obviously let this one go a little too early. I should have covered the Centre Point and Byern logos.
