Hate to have to confirm the bad news, Mark, but your spot on again, and you also get the bonus for correctly identifying the vessel, it is indeed the Mv Balmoral.

I was hoping that a view from aboard a vessel would make the search a bit harder for you all, obviously not! Ivy went straight to Wales, and you found the exact spot in no time at all!

So well done, and Mark, back to you again.
Your charts, your radar, your eyes and ears - if all 4 agree, you may proceed with caution.

That was an interesting one - learnt quite a bit about Victorian piers. I found the correct one, but Mark beat me to it by 2 mins. and then I got the wrong boat, anyway!

OK then - again I suspect that this is an easy one - but it's a nice place!!

My money is on this one not lasting the evening.

        Cheers,

Well, certainly a place of worship.

              Re: What place is this?

Hard to find out what this building is, let alone where.
I believe the key to solving this one is the symbols on to of the Onion Domes.
Most Churches or monasteries would have a cross, most Mosques a half-moon, Synagogues a Star of David etc.
The symbol look like a spiked wheel, or sun, but with something at the centre. I don't think it is a Masonic symbol.
Rotary International comes to mind, but that is hardly a place of worship.

I think we are somewhere in the Baltics. My best guess is in Latvia, since the spiked sun is a popular thing there, I believe?

You're on the same line of enquiry as I am, the sunburst type of symbol has me foxed.

                  Maybe time for a clue.

Keep going with your 'place of worship' ideas. It is Europe, but not as far north as the Baltic.

The building is near a body of water with some very beautiful boats on it, and is in a region that is visited by huge numbers of people every year.

                  Keep going!

                          Spot on! Well done Ombugge.

Yep, the Jesuit Church in Lucerne, close to the Vierwaldstättersee where the beautiful steamships and other lake boats spend their time ferrying the hundreds of thousands of folk that visit that part of Switzerland every year.

                          All yours!!!

(PS I was just enjoying the excellent sequence of photos you've posted on the Heavy Lift Carrier thread - fascinating, thanks for those. Talk about precision, not a lot of room for error there.)

I'll take some time to come with a new puzzle as I'm off to work tomorrow. Anybody who wants in is welcome.

The type of mistakes made on this job should never happen. There are several checks, double checks and re-checks, but nobody picked up the fact that there were protrusions. Somebody's head ought to roll.

Very well done, Ombugge. I had quickly discounted any Christian building, so would never have got there.
Would the others like to have a go at this one - very old photo, I'm afraid?

I remember i was doing several searches in Malta, so this is the place i check first, when a Mediterranean picture is posted by Ivy.

So my guess is: Malta, Valetta, Upper Barrakka Gardens

                                I found this picture:
