Re: Things you probably didn't know about NORWAY

Here is the definition of "naking" according to the same web site:
Naking er bilder av helt eller delvis nakne kropper, som regel tatt i forbindelse med friluftsliv/turer ved sjøen, skogen eller fjellet. Gjerne fotografert fra siden eller bakfra. Gjerne i fine naturomgivelser. Naking i urbane omgivelser er også en økende trend.
When saying "going naked" I did not mean "walking around" naked, although that is apparently acceptable too.
Do you think this will spread to other places in the world, or is it a strictly Norwegian phenomena???

PS> I agree with your choice.

The winning picture in the "naking" competition has been decided : http://kortreist.smp.no/forside/article15210.ece

Not the one Sterkoder and myself voted for. (Probably because of three in stead of just one beautiful body)

Re: Things you probably didn't know about NORWAY

Yes, long live our king, Harald V !!

Now I will tell you something you might not know about Norway, and certainly something we almost don't belive ourselves.

For many decades we've had Lakrispiper (liquorice pipes) to buy if we were liquorice lovers, and I remember them from my childhood, when we could buy them one by one.

The anti-tobacco fanatics together with our health authoriteies and government a few years ago banned liquorice pipes from the market as the authorities decided to conceal tobacco and cigarettes behind walls, doors or other means of concealment so that you can't see such leagal goods in the stores. The pipes looks like a device you use to smoke tobacco, so they banned that too. Don't know if I will cry or laugh.

We CAN buy the pipes still, but do you know where...?
In the duty free stores at airports.
Do you think you can just walk into the candy department at those duty free stores and buy it...?
Nope, the liquorice pipes are concealed together with cigarettes and tobacco!!!!!!!

This is how the boxes looks like on the outside.

You could think that this is some kind of drug, but no...., it's plain liquorice pipes FOR CHRIST'S SAKES!!

Norway is one of the best countries to live in, but on some areas, we're acting plain complete crazy....

Re: Things you probably didn't know about NORWAY

Check out this awesome - and unique - film from 1906 which was recently found in the national archives in Sweden....

The 8 minute long film was shot in Trondheim during the 1906 coronation trip of King Haakon... you can also see future king to be, Olav, on the arms of his mother.

Pretty spectacular to see something of this quality.

That certainly was a find, J.O. Thank you for posting it. Somehow it all seemed delightfully informal, and I was amused to see the little prince being passed from one person to another as his parents were seating themselves in the carriages. Then at the end he was put down for a moment and immediately started off on his own, only to be swiftly caught by an attendant and restored to the group!
Our King Edward VII and his Danish Queen Alexandra were no doubt somewhere amongst all the Royals.
As you say, the quality of the film is excellent - 106 years on.

                          Dear Ivy,

I so agree with you: I was really exited to see such high quality film from so long ago.

Did you notice the man looking towards the camera at the train station platform as the STEAM-train pulled away from the train station?

                            Anybody on CVF with pictures and/or stories from travelling with;
                            Raumabanen?
                            Flaambanen?
                            Bergensbanen?
                            Nordlandsbanen?
                            Ofotbanen?
or any other interesting stretched of railroad in Norway?

Maybe we could have a thread for Rail Travel on CVF.
