This month, the Central Railway Station in Trondheim will be torn down, so I thought it was important to get some shots before they really started demolishing it.

Here are some images taken during my last Sunday afternoon walk in town.

Thise are very valid and true points of view!

I'm personally looking forward to the new walk way from the port, but had hoped it could have been incorporated into the exisiting station.

Generally i think positive about it. We can discuss, why it is always necessary to demolish all old structures to build up something new. In my opinion a development is a better solution, beware the old and add something new.

Here they keep the old main building as hotel, that is fine. The rest...well in my experience it was quite small...

To open the station as entrance to the cruise quai and the marina is quite important. And also the Hurtigruten passengers will have a much nicer way to the town. Today this way is boring long and very ugly.

The yellow buildings in the first post, Fosenkaia, will be turned into a hotel! ... but the rest will be torn down to make way for the walkway bridge to Brattøra and the new HSC terminal.

Here is a video and a further article on how it will be once completed:

Sorry if I did not catch any info about the demolition, but.....; why??
Is it not built for the future, do they need more space, does it lack universal solutions in every field (made also for handicaped people), are there just architecture/design reasons, or what??

What a shame, I‘ve always liked that curve and the clock tower, and it looks so impressive from across the water too. I would have thought that it could have been incorporated successfully into the new development. Is the older adjacent building in your #1/2 to go too?

If a fish had made up to the side walk, it would have seen this:

The design is still modern, and it seems to be such a waste of funds and time to tear it down:
