Seagulls doesn't limit themselves to the old "sjobuder", they are now even walking the streets in Aalesund.
Sitting at Hoffmannsgaarden a couple of days ago this one strolled passed without a worry in his life.

What are you looking at? You never seen a seagull patrolling Kongensgate before?:

Oh you'r taking pictures. just hang on there until I get into the right position:

    This is my best profile:

Sorry, no time for posing, somebody left something over here:

    Time to chow down:

Some thing is as sure as winter follow summer. It is seagulls nesting on "Sjobuder" in Aalesund:

They also find other places to take a little rest from looking for leftovers at outdoor restaurants:

Or maybe these are actually pursuing a more traditional way of feeding?

On a happier note, at least for those who have visited Aalesund and Sjobua, the "best" seafood restaurant in town:

It is about to open again after a lengthy shut-down.

ahhhh..... last night, when I parked my ferry just before midnight, the temperature was just 7 degrees Celsius. Way too low for August if you ask me.

August can actually be a pretty nice after-summer, but last night, I could smell the autumn in the air!

The Boat Festival is still on, but the weather is not cooperating.
Not much boats, but plenty of cars on show, candy and Bacalao for sale though.
I did not venture into the thick of it, but here is a view of Korsegata at least:

I am not a specialist in that kind of art,but it looks nice with fine design and execution.
Allways a good sensation to see again paintings after years.

In my young and tender days I delivered newspapers in various parts of Aalesund and got to know many of the building pretty good.
One thing I have always remembered is the murals in the ceiling and the entrance and a stained glass window above the door of one house on the corner of Apotekergata/Brunholmgata. (Why I don't know)

I visited a Pub/Restaurant there a few days ago (post # 863) and asked the owner if this was still there, which he confirmed. He let me in to the entrance to see the murals. Here they are:

Maybe not art, but good craftsmanship, or what say you art people here on CVF??

Unfortunately the stained glass windows are no more and the rest of the interior of the building has been "ruined" as far as the original "Jugenstil" is concerned.
The Wrought Iron stairs were rusty and the decorations in the stairway painted over. (No pix)

Get an inside view of Aalesund. This is the new "parking house" shot out in Aksla:

Not too crowded yet, but very handy when it is raining, or you'r in a hurry. You can enter from Raadstugata on one side of town and emerge in Kongensgate on the other in a matter of minutes. That applies if you are walking or driving, since there is a "grace period" of some 10 min. without charge.
Here is how it works: http://www.akslaparkering.no/om-aksla-parkering/

PS> there is even a rolling pavement (Rollator) to/from "Storsenteret": http://www.alesundstorsenter.no/

A few more Slinningsbua photos to add to the collection - it looks fantastic at a distance, with the mountains and clouds behind.

All from the same 'secret location' that Ombugge revealed to the world in the cruise ship thread!!

Firstly - lots of plastic watching some burning timber ...

With Nautica on 'short finals' to her berth ...

Seabourn Quest doing the same thing, but without the Tug for company.

And the building just looking amazing, sinister, beautiful, lonely, with no ships!
