Default Assignment : Information sought on HSC ''Skogøy''

Assignment : Information sought on HSC ''Skogøy'' operating out of Bodø.

Dear members,

Would you all please be so kind as to list all information you can find, including route, history, propulsion, images (pictures) of a high speed craft operating out of odø by the name of ''Skogøy''..

I have already found some information on the net, but would love to see more detailed shots of her, some technical specifications and other more actual details.

She is now operated by Torghatten Nord.

I'm convinced some of you can find more than what I can...

Relevant thread:

Assignment : Information sought on HSC ''Vågsfjord''...

Thank you so much Seagull... way better then what I found so far.

I wonder if this is the same Skogøy which still operates by that name right now?

Thank you all so much... it's amazing what you can all find in such a short time.

I will come with an announcement shortly as to why I have been asking these questions... (some may have already figured it out though).

According to the company today, I will start on board "Skogøy" on Friday next week, May 8th 2009, in the capacity of Chief Officer. The first week will however be check-out (training and familiarization) with the vessel.

Awaiting the exact details on wards.

Wonderful news..........

You are most welcome among us "foreigner" up north. I really look forward to be a passenger onboard. And I will tell all my friends in Sør-Arnøy and Fleinvær that from now on they travel safely with "lokalen".

Congratulations so much with the new job on the HSC "Skogøy" , Jan-Olav.There is little difference in what you have been familiar with previously on your voyages, but it is fine boats to serve on, and not least in a great and beautiful area of the country.
Wish you the very best and happiness to come.

I'm so happy for you! There are not many words to describe my feelings after knowing what you've gone through, so let me just say the one popping up first and foremost: Congratulation!!!!

Well done, wish you all the best, and good luck!!

EDIT: I'm not an expert on anything, I don't know alot about spesific subjects, but I have been known to know a little bit about much...., if I might be so straight forward and say so. Nevertheless....., I'm kind of out of focus when it comes to commercial maritime ranks. I know very well what a First Officer do on board a plane (that's usually the co-pilot, second in command after the Captain), but what will be your position on board when you say you'll be the First Officer....??

The chief Officer (or Overstyrmann in Norwegian) is the second in command on board ships, First Officer is normally one or several positions, and the 3rd in command at the bridge.

My position will be Chief Officer (Overstyrmann).

Overstyrmann – brilliant – I had heard the term without previously being sure exactly what it meant.
Will you still attend an HSC course next week as you originally supposed, prior to the start of the on-board familiarization on the Friday?

Yes, as the plans are right now, I will depart Rorvik on Saturday night on board Kong Harald, heading to Bodo. Monday through Thursday next week, I'll be attending the HSC course and staying at Rica Hotel in Bodo.

Then, on Thursday, upon completing my training (hopefully successfully), I'll move to Norrona Hotel and stay there for the next week or so. From Friday morning, I'll be on board my new vessel for familiarization and training. The training should last for about a week or so.

Also, as the plans are right now, I'll be on Skogoy for the rest of the summer and into the first week of September. Thereafter, there are currently no further plans but hopefully, by that time, I may have picked up on another HSC in the same area or even further north.

That is, if I like the job, the ship and it's crew and if all goes well in all other respects.
