I'll have to vote with the guys. I like a dark blue or black hull and in a few cases dark hunter green.

Not sure if this should be in the yacht thread or in the navy ship thread, but this is something out of the ordinary:

Conversion from Navy ship to luxury yacht.

>>

Pierre Jean Design will convert a former navy ship into a ultra luxurious yacht. They have previously done a lot of sailboats, helicopters and private aircrafts.

It's a frigate of the SWIFT 141-class which will be converted into a yacht housing 60 guests and 56 crew. The speed will clock in around 26 knots once completed and the yacht will be among the world's largest.

I can never get my head around the economics of conversion versus newbuild when the before and after seem so different as here – and who is paying for what.
Of course from the point of view of “recycling” I suppose it must be considered a good thing.

I congratulate our Captain with his new yacht Octopus, seen here at anchor on Byfjorden near Bergen, overtaken by the coastal express Nordkapp. Both size and colour scheme (dark blue hull) look great! I wonder if he will invite the forum members for a ride?

BT writes about Octopus

Ships and ferry forum writes.

To be earnest; The Octopus is designed by the norwegian naval architecht Espen Øino, and is at the moments no. 9 on the worlds largest yachts ranking list.

Cool, you managed to get an image of ''us" when we anchored off Bergen....

I was in the jacuzzi at the exact time when I noticed the coastal steamer passing us....

I love this image, because it truly shows how big a yacht I have... when I bought it, I didn't intend to make it bigger than a coastal steamer.

My new yacht is coming to Kristiansand (Norway) for sea trails...

Oh well, I know it says in this article that the owner is Toyota-tycoon Abdulla al-Futtaim, but that is just a formality....

The article also states that the classification of this vessel has a naval character to it: among the security features is a water cannon which can sink a boat at the distance of 100 meters...

Looks nice though, but I did request a BLUE hull...

Not so much into sailboats as our private forum yacht, but this one would probably suffice...

Take a look at the engine room images! Waoww... you could eat 'kransekake' off those engines... !

And then pass the fan over to me! That is a stunning piece of kit!

Not sure about the sail side of things, I might have to discreetly do away with all that nonsense, but the rest of it i greatly approve of. I really like that bridge, very stylish with lots of nice toys to help you while away the hours on watch. And oh boy, i just have to agree with J-O when it comes to that engine room, WOW!!!! I would be in there everyday polishing away!

A fantastic idea, very impressive end product, BUT, i agree with Seagull, the question must be asked - "WHY????". Surely it must be a lot cheaper to build it from scratch? I guess it's the sheer fun of undertaking such a project, the whole conversion process is something i would greatly love to see in detail. I would find it fascinating!

A couple of great contestants to a future CV Yacht?

Quote:
Mike Kajan Yacht Design
Is Good Design a Genetic Gift?

Like anyone with a passion, Mike Kajan's interest in yacht design has evolved from his experience on the water, manifesting itself in some extraordinary yacht design concepts, with an unusual twist... Mike isn't a yacht designer. He's a banker! In his free time, he uses Freehand to digitally sketch his imagination, which leaves us wondering... is fine design a genetic predisposition or is it the evolution of an interest?

Off course, we would need a support vessel as well for our yacht:

Quote:
New Contract: Amels 67-meter Sea Axe Support Vessel

The successful sale of the first SEA AXE 6711 shows that superyacht owners are looking for higher quality, high-speed support ships.

It's already in blue - our color: this could be a great yacht for CVF recreational cruises..... and now, also discounted price wise:

At 102 feet long your (Pakarang) license should certainly be good enough to captain her. I'll get out my paint and brush to put the CV logo on the bow.
