Fantastic weather here in Kristiansund today, and as I drove along I spotted a nice little tug by a remote dock.
Let me present to you "Oskar" which I belive is from Ålesund...
"Oskar" was built at Seutelvens Verksted in Fredrikstad as yardnr. 66 in 1952.

Well, I hope all the rest of you get to see pictures, because now I only get red X's where there should've been a picture....
That goes for all the icons and pictures in the entire forum. Guess I just will have to log off and turn my pc OFF for a while...., (the sound you hear in the background is my girl friend shouting YIIIIPPPEEEEE!!!!!!!)

Yes, photobucket.com was down for maintenance about an hour or so, but now they seem to be back on again!

You know, Elizabeth...., I don't know how the surroundings are in Tennille (although I've been to Georgia...., by a single-engine aircraft, the Piper Tomahawk, when I flew from Vero Beach to Savannah and back), but here I can tell you a little bit about my city:
It's built on 4 islands (Nordlandet, Kirkelandet, Innlandet and Gomalandet), so we HAVE to see the sea and ocean if we want to or not.
In the middle of the lands that Kristiansund are built on lays the harbour. Kirklandet is the main land, with the city center and City Hall. Nordlandet had all the ship yards and has the airport. Innlandet is what we can call the Old Town and Gomalandet had the recreation aras and the fish industry.

I guess you'll find more if you Google 'Kristiansund'...., as I will later with Tennille

Puh...., well...., that's one of the drawbacks with Photobucket...., you HAVE to have a working link to your picture....

Can't wait to see your lovely town in person some day...

Oh, I did have a laugh at the thought of googling Tennille...and so I did. Just about all you get is the coordinates...LOL

Just go read my blog sometime if you REALLY want to know what happens here in the Middle-Of-Nowhere www.maisoncourouge.blogspot.com I will try to remember to take some truly AMAZING photos sometime soon...we actually have running water and indoor plumbing here............ the closest thing we have to a body of water (other than my aforementioned bathtub) is the beaver pond down the road....................
    Cheers!!

    other than my aforementioned bathtub
Lucky you!!! Whenever you take a bath, you can fire up your battery driven ships and boats, or buy a bunch of boats with rubber band engines to play with. Your bathtub can suddenly be a huge ocean.....
(And remember to buy yourself a captains cap with scrambeled eggs on the brim, and maybe a coat with four golden stripes on the sleeves. What a sight....).

Back on track with an image of a coastal freighter called Folla which I think is doing service for a company called Biomar (fish farm feeding company?): seen arriving at Rorvik an afternoon just before Christmas.

Sorry, Sir!! I guess we were cought by the joy and happyness of the holidays...

    By the way;
Nice picture of "Folla". She's a general cargo/pallet carrier owned by Folla Sjøtransport AS in Rørvik. Formar name was "Hardangerfjord" and she's yardnr. 106 from Th. Hellesøy Skipsbyggeri in 1982....;-)

    No problem at all...

Ummm... thanks for the information on Folla: I guess this is not the same Folla as before (as in 10 - 15 years ago) then? Do you happen to know when she changed her name from Hardangerfjord to Folla?

I thought this was the famous Folla which assisted Narvik when she ran aground back in 1997/98 some time....

My info says 1994, when she also had a rebuilt. Don't know how she looked before that though...

    Latest:
just found out that this little beauty in fact was bought by a chap younger than me, living not far from me, earlier this year.
Yes, it sailed with Ålesund as home port before, but now it's new home port is Kristiansund as she's the first vessel of the new company Frei Taubåtservice AS (Frei Tugboat service Ltd.).
Thought you might want to get updated on the latest info....

Hello Jan-Olav, and happy new year!

The Folla assisting Narvik in 1991 sails now under the name "GG Hunter" She was sold from NTS in 1994 and was then named Utsira and covered the Haugesund - Utsira line.

I had the pleasure traveling with Folla in 1993 when a friend and I was going on a biking trip in Vikna. We traveled with Folla all the way from Trondheim to Rørvik, a 24 hour trip as the ship called at tons of places, big and small, including Namsos. A great trip it was
    Greetings and salutations!!
