    A double ended Offshore vessel???

No it is two sister ships, the "Greatship Manisha" and "Greatship Mamta" seen side by side at Keppel Singmarine, Singapore on Monday, 20. Sept. 2010.
The Manisha is all dressed up for her naming ceremony, while the Mamta is back for some warrant repairs, and to get a Helideck fitted.

Both vessels are PSVs of the MT 6012 design by Marin Teknik, Norway.

    Default MPSV "Greatship Manta"

The GS Mamta has been fitted out with a AHC Offshore Crane and thus become a MPSV (Multi-purpose Platform Supply Vessel):

Part of the Bulwark on Port side has been temporarily removed and a ROV Spread placed on deck:

A view of the Cargo deck and Superstructure from aft:

    And from Fwrd:

The propulsion is Diesel/Electric. Here is two of the Generators in the Engine Room:

    There are 2 x 2,600 kWe and 2 x 1,480 kWe, 690 V main generators for power supply.

Here is one of the two Azimuth Thrusters, as seen in the Thruster Room:

Driven by 2 x 2,600 kW electric motors with Variable Voltage Control:

In an emergency, the Thrusters can be controlled locally from the Thruster Room:

There are also 3 x 1,080 kW Bow Thrusters:

Normally everything is controlled from the Bridge. Here the Fwrd. maneuver position:

    Aft maneuver position:

Or leave it all to Computers. Here is the DPS-2 Consoles:

A nice touch; Since no outside noice can be heard inside the Wheel house, this device is there to listen for any audio signals:

I have no idea how it works, but it certainly doesn't listen for breaker, like we used to have to do on the Island Trampers in the South Pacific.

    <Sound signal receiver>

Maybe it is used to check that accoustic transponders for the DP are working?

It is supposed to pick up fog signal, I think. I don't know if it works, since we don't have much fog in Singapore to test it against. The Captain didn't know much about it either.
There is a HiPap for what you are proposing.

A new ship, so probably "labeled" by the yard during installation.
But more to the point; why is a Bow Thruster Motor marked "Port Aft"??

Could it be to identify direction of the motor when lifted in place. Next time I'll look to see if it says "This Side Up" on top!!

If you don't tell it to another person, I'll let you in on a little secret of mine:
Today I did something I haven't done for ages....., as I got out of bed on a Saturday morning before 09:00!!!!
Oh, well...., I just wanted to use the early light here in Kristiansund as my nose told me there was a special ship in harbour.
I thought my nose ment the "Island Enforcer", but as I arrived in the city, she had already left.
Then I discovered that the huge x-bowed "Island Constructor" was moored along the Storkaia, so then it was time to fire up my camera and get started.

"Island Constructor" as seen from the docks at Nordlandet

Then it was time to drive all the way over to Dødeladen Café at Innlandet, close to the Thon Hotel. This is how she look from there...

A little detail; the squared city and the nicely shaped ship

From the docks close to the Pier, there was also an interesting angle

And finally..., (as I hope this not bore you all with too many images of one single ship)...., a view from the top of the shopping mall parking house

They are so close when moored at this position

As you can understand, the docks and harbour of Kristiansund is a dream for a ship photographer..., as it provides us (me) with such a number of perfect spotter places to get perfect pictures. And the great thing is, there are in fact even more places to go. Either to get different angels vertically, or good unobstructed views horizontally.

I also found this "little" fellow alongside the dock at Devoldholmen and the new base for our harbour authorities and others.
Today, the locally built (Vaagland Ship Yard, Halsa) seismic vessel "Sanco Spirit" was a bonus to me, as long as the "Island Enforcer" had left.
(This is our light conditions at around 10:00AM local time. I imagine it would be even more perfect and bright an hour earlier)

No, I did not ask to come aboard.
The security level was high, and I did not know anyone working on the ship.

Today I also only had time for these pictures, as I left home before breakfast and my better half and my daughter was waiting with coffee, fresh bread and good orange juice at home one hour later

Glad you liked my images though...., thank you!!

And if she would have sailed for Greatship, her name would have been "Greatship Mohini"

Doesn't get to be any fresher than this:
"Siem Diamond" at Vestbase in Kristiansund 30 minutes ago, taking on board wire. This vessel was delivered from Kleven Yard in September 2010

She sure looks like a pretty diamond...

I'm sitting here, quite a bit envious of your offshore ships: very few of them make it in to Trondheim.
