There are so many different bulbs around (ref. the "Thor Alpha") .
I would be glad if I clearly could one day understand the purpose of each type, and why they once decided that a sharp bulbless bow cutting through water like a hot knife through butter, was wrong....

    Thanks for the images, Joakim!!

Came across these blurred photos on one of my harddisks.
Your's truly operating the ballast panel on the flotel "Polycrown", now renamed "Safe Scandinavia".

Here in the more normal position, probably reading aviation magazines:

    More on "Polycrown":

Yes, Nichu, why not post some of your ships/rigs and work in the "My Ship(s) thread??? It has been a bit "lonely" there.

Thanks also to you Jack for interesting images from SVG and N' Master

    To put some distinctions to the various vessels;
The Mare Verde appears to be set up as a Seismic support vessel, with a long boom deck crane and a streamer winch at the back deck. (Probably working for RXT?)

The Edda Fjord is a MPSV/CSV (Multi-purpose Supply Vessel / Construction Support Vessel), which can handle many different tasks in the offshore industry, worldwide.

The Sanco Spirit is another "4-D Seismic" vessel operated by RXT.
There must be a major 4-D job going on somewhere around KSU, since this is the second such vessel presented by Sterkoder in the last few days.

Great interior images from "Havila Borg", Joakim!!
(And I belive strongly we keep the comment to that, and don't ask any questions)

I sent pictures to the Thor Offshore. Oh, I get a gift in the mail
    Care to tell us what...?

(I've been contacted by Portmakeren AS in Bergen once, when I gave them a picture for free and once I got contacted by STX (then Aker Yards) and they also got a picture for free. Nothing has ever happened since, so I guess I'll just have to move away from that "free" stuff.... )

No, I do not know what that means I get gifts from the owner. I sent the only two pictures of "Thor Alpha". I really just luck...

Good pictures from the bridge of "Havila Borg", showing all the main items of equipment, like fwrd and aft manoeuvre positions, liquid and bulk cargo control panel and the DP Consoles.

But what on earth is that orange contraption on deck (Bay 2 and 3) used for???
Looks like a semi-permanent installation, probably with 2 portable Containers / Tanks placed on either side?
I can see Chiksan connections at both ends of the horizontal pipe, which should indicate that this is used to handle liquids or bulk.
But no connections to be seen on the vertical curved pipes. What are they for????

Maybe something supplied by Swire Offshore Services???

See you got your small gifts...
Would be nice to get such a t-shirt. Then I would've given it to one friend of mine named Thor
Anyway, the ship you saw parts of in the "Nordkapp"-thread, was "Normand Subsea".

This is an epic thread and the images posted by everyone are stunning. Well done all.

Due ti illness, my spotting has had to be done via AIS and webcams I managed to capture the James Cook, a research vessel, leaving Birkenhead for Santander last night.

    Regards, Bill.
