The new vessels of 2010 "Far Saracen" and "Far Shogun" together with the slightly smaller "Skandi Admiral" in Kristiansund this afternoon.
The green "Havila Venus" was delivered from the yard in October 2009.
It's almost like the three red ones tuck together behind "Nordstjernen" saying;
-"Come on guys, let's prank her. How about us throwing a rope in her prop and watch the old lady stumble?" (Mohahahahahaha)

I don't know if I miss something here? You mention two Farstad boats, but I only see one. Where are you hiding the other one???![]()
After posting, I saw that myself. But the two are moored stern to stern, and if you look close (if you are a detail freak as a couple of others in here) you will see a greenish window of the port bridge section of "Far Saracen" just behind the corner of the starboard bridge of the smaller "Skandi Admiral".
See...?![]()
"IF GOD COULD MAKE ANGELS...., WHY IN HELL MAKE MAN?"
Went out this afternoon after work and took some images. They are a bit spread around in different categories of threads, but here are a large amount of offshore vessel related images.
Beautiful "Edda Frende" moored at Storkaia in the Kristiansund harbour
"Island Wellserver" is large seen at sea, but when she enters the narrow Markussundet outlet from the harbour, she looks huge!
Here "Island Wellserver" is seen in the outlet and sailing towards Vestbase
A detail from the starboard side of the bridge. Things to note for detailfreaks: ship bell and a camera eye
Ooops...., three of "my" red containers
She's so impressive!
I think this is a picture taken just at the right time. The plane is a BAe JetStream 31 from DirectFlyg, flying Statoil employees on a daily basis between Kristiansund and Trondheim and vise versa
Sorry for posting so many images of the same object, but this time I can't resist

Then she met up with a company vessel sailing out from Vestbase, the "Island Challenger"
And then "Thor Server" came towards the Markussundet, "Skandi Stord" sailed toward Vestbase followed by tug "Tambur"
"Thor Server" is a small stand-by/guard vessel
In the city harbour, "Thor Supporter" is moored to Vågekaia
And finally, the two Thors were united

Ah, two older boats still active in the North Sea. Both owned and operated from the Faeroys.
The Thor Server was originally a Utility Vessel built in Singapore in 1978, probably for Chuan Hup. Now used as a Chaser/Guard boat for Seismic vessels.
The Thor Suppporter is a typical Gulf of Mexico supply boat of same era, built in the States 1980. She is below 300 GRT, thus did not require a licenced Master under US flag.
(The <300GRT licence issued by USCG was based on experience only. Many of the Skippers couldn't even read or write)
The "Box" on top of the Superstructure is the aft manouvering position. The Skipper had to switch over and go there when closing in on platforms and rigs, which was always done "stern first".
There is a destinct difference between these two and the Island Wellserver.
To Pilotdane's post; All large new Offshore Vessels, especially of the complex CSV type, has CCTV Cameras litterally "everywhere".I had no idea that offshore ships had security cameras like the cruise ships. Probably for different reasons. I suppose the cameras are helpful to see the work on deck.
I inspected one such "Well Intervention Vessel" not so long ago. Maybe I have some pics that illustrate that. Reverting.
I didn't find any pictures directly showing the CCTV Control panel on a CSV. I actually posted a number of pics from the CSV "Normand Clough" earlier, (Post # 390) showing the array of screens that is found on the bridge of one of these vessels. Many can display CCTV pictures as well as whatever else is required.
Since this vessel can accommodate 120 persons it is important to know who is coming and going at all times and who is on board at departure.
For this purpose there is a Reception near the gangway, which is used to check in personnel boarding while in port.
There is a camera and scanner that is used to electronically record pictures and data of all new personnel as they come on board:
And a CCTV screen displaying picture from whichever of a dozen or more cameras that is selected:
In this case Cam #7, which appears to be situated on deck aft.
When the vessel is offshore and crew change is by helicopter, the same thing occurs in the Heli-lounge, which is situated above the Wheel house:
This area doubles as an additional Recreation Room / Sky Lounge when no Helicopters are coming, or going:
A far cry from what is found on most Offshore Vessels, even brand new ones, if not built for Norwegian Owners.
Hahaha...., you're so right!if not built for Norwegian Owners
I've been invited on board different vessels by forumists, and as you yourself know, I can assure all others that it was like a luxury liner in the crew rest areas. But hey...., they deserve the best!!
Then I'm very thankful for your additional info on the Thor vessels.
In fact we can actually see, at least I do, that the "Thor Supporter" must have had something to do with the Gulf of Mexico.
The way the superstructure/bridge area is designed gave her away![]()

Panning the Far Sapphire after the sunset this evening

That shot of Far Sapphire came out really nice. The blur of the water and background really forces your eye to ship and gives her a sense of speed.
