Now, that looks a bit different Olaf, is it fog or a snowfall? Hard to tell.
Pretty tricky conditions whatever. Marvelous mood, perhaps a bit overexposured, or not.
Wow, that's a big floating box.
Does she run between the Netherlands and Denmark?
i've posted here somewere a image from another floating box ''princess of norway'' i believe which was even more a box.
she 's sailing from IJmuiden to Newcastle/Tyne to Norway,Danmark and back to IJmuiden,as far i know.
this image was taken from the other side as where we turn at our endingpoint from our Amsterdam trip in nov.2010

Unfortunately (for us) DFDS's Princess and King just do Newcastle to Ijmuiden and back again - a boat per day.
According to 'The Ferry Site', Princess and King are sister ships, having started their lives with TT Line. King had a stint with Brittany as 'Val de Loire', and Princess was 'Fjord Norway' for Fjordline for a couple of years.
We no longer have any direct UK to Norway link. There is a three times a week DFDS sailing from Harwich to Esbjerg, that's the only remaining passenger link in the north North Sea. Not so many years ago we had Newcastle - Stavanger - Haugesund - Bergen, and Newcastle - Kristiansand - Goteborg, but DFDS saw to that for us.
Only good side is that we see more of the Netherlands than we used to! Good links from Harwich and Hull to Hoek / Europoort too - as per Thijs' other photos of the Stena ships and Pride of Hull / Rotterdam.

Oops - Tom got there before me!!
Yeah - but King had a rebuild when she went to Brittany Ferries.
According to Wikipedia (so it must be true)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS_King_Seaways
They ain't pretty though as built or as rebuilt!!
"In January 1993 the Nils Holgersson was sold to Brittany Ferries and renamed MV Val de Loire. Before entering service for her new owners, the ship was rebuilt at INMA, La Spezia, Italy with a new streamliner forward superstructure, a new bow door and refurbished interiors."

To add to the interesting discussion of 'Princess Seaways' and 'King Seaways' and Thijs' excellent recent photos, I stumbled across these.
Taken in 2006 in the Tyne, on the last direct UK to Norway crossing we were able to make before the routes were shut down. Looking across to 'King of Scandinavia' as she was then, still on Newcastle - Ijmuiden as today.
She was in her old style DFDS white livery - and doing a pretty poor job of hiding her previous life as 'Val de Loire' for Brittany ferries - or her 'nose job'.
I believe that there were four sisters - the other two being built for Olau as Olau Hollandia and Olau Britannia (Sheerness to Vlissingen). I do remember travelling on them when they were new - in less than flat weather - and remembering just how comfortable they were. Maybe not pretty, but at least for those of us in the UK, they brought comfort and amenities we'd never even dreamt of for ferry travel in the late 1980s. Spent too long on Scandinavian ships since to be easily impressed now though.
