Why does she have four propellers? I expected to see two. Does four offer a shallower draught or is it some other reason?

I'm not sure, but I'd like to take a guess:

She's got 4 MTU 16V396TE74L engines, and in order to not have a too large propeller diameter, they might've choosen to make one smaller propeller for each engine.

By the way, she's got 10876 Bhp, and was built in 1998 at Oceanfast Marine Pty Ltd, Henderson in Australia as yard nr. 18.

Anyone feels like checking this vessel out further, her former name was "Tamarii Moorea" with IMO nr.: 9151010

She has four propellers and four engines. But they will only run with 2 engines, so when they use only 2 propellers

Do they pitch their propellerblades so that they is parallell to the stream of water then.....?
If not, this way of propelling a ship must be very costly, as those 8 blades not "in production" produce a huge drag....

Do you know anything about this....? It interests me

Umm.... I'm not going to burn my fingers here but I think I remember from this summer, that Bodo has four propellers because she was actually built as a HSC. Due to the enormously high fuel coast at full speed, only two propellers would be used for propulsion. That is also because the speed required in her run, doesn't require her to run all four.

I may be forgetting the real story here, but I think it had something to do with that.

She is also in Bodo known as the Vestfjord-pusher, because of her ginormous bow wave that she pushes ahead of herself.

Here is an earlier post in reference to why she is known as the Vestfjord-pusher! That is a massive and heavy bow wave to shovel ahead of you underway.

Kristiansund Mek. Verksted has a major contract to do maintenance of the car ferries owned by the Fjord1-MRF company. Here's three ferries from a couple of days ago; left "Veøy", middle "Tingvoll", right "Bolsøy".
