    Default Marshalls Tractors Rally

This is 2 day event Rally celebrating 150 years of Marshalls & Sons engineering and their products.
The most famous being their Field Marshall 3a (IIIA) Tractor, also famous for their Steam Traction Engines, Boilers, Pressure Vessels, X-24 Midget Submarines and Crawler Tractors.
We had a proud 150 year history wiped out by refusal to modernise and of course the curse of Thatcher (no intro need on that one).

To kick off, here is the company's main emblem that graced it's steam traction engines.

But here is the emblem that was on every Field Marshall tractor.
This is one the many rows of Field Marshalls lined up.

Out in the field, it a thirsty job.

Here was the most modern Marshalls produced until it's closure in 1982.

I confess my appalling ignorance, but I hadn't known about steam tractors. I can't remember seeing any at Dordrecht last June, must ask Thijs whether he did.

Although Marshalls built Steam Traction Engines, Fosters of Lincoln 20 miles from us made them too. Both firms are sadly gone.
I did see an out of service Norfolk Ambulance there, rather nice seeing an old Bedford Ambulance Ivy.

    Marshall 18/30 tractor.

    Marshall "Type M"

Field Marshall set up for thrashing.

Field Marshall doing what it does best, ploughing.

One of the more powerful Marshalls, a Track Mashall 55 Crawler.

The Marshalls legacy is only kept alive by enthusiasts.

Funny looking tractors I must admit... reminds me of the first editions of the tanks.

They do look very solid though... as anything made in the past would be.

Today it's just plastic and other things that can brake.
