    Default Webcam withdrawal symptoms

I'm missing active feeds from the ships - apart from Midnatsol. Do any of you experts have any knowledge of why everything died several weeks ago?
I greatly miss my morning Hurtigruten 'fix' here in the UK.

Hello! Don't have any answers - have been suffering the same as you - hopefully someone can let us know.

Interestingly there's no mention of problems on the site that they come from, the Bergens Tidende newspaper, www.bt.no/kamera, but clearly the boats aren't where they appear to be!

I'm sure you've already found www.webcamsinnorway.com, with its Hurtigruten theme - which at least lets you see where the boats aren't, but will be going to be if they're not already there.

And of course, my all time favourite is www.nordkapp.tv, especially with its 360 panoramic view of the harbour at Honningsvåg.

    I found this on facebook:
"What has happened to the live pictures from the ships' webcams? They haven't updated for weeks now on bt.no. I miss them as I usually look every day to see glimpses of my favourite coast!"
Hurtigruten ASA: "We are working on it. We have to update both hardware and software, but hope to have a solution up and running after summer. Sorry to keep you waiting."

Hmm, can we hope for a live feed?

Gawd I hope not - I would never do enough work to earn a living if there were 11 ships worth of live feed!!

    I'm glad I'm not alone!
I wonder if they are upgrading to the newer HiDef cameras?
Webcams in Norway seems to have an ever increasing number of them, Skjervoy and Geiranger but two.
    Keeping fingers very crossed.

That would require a huge amount of bandwidth so I wouldn't expect that.

By the way, last year I made a little experiment by mounting a webcam in my cabin travelling from Tromsø - Kirkenes and back with MS Nordnorge.
The window was dirty so the image quality wasn't the best. Images got transferred every 2 - 5 minutes via UMTS to a server and could be viewed inside the german hurtigforum website.
The images are still available at this test website. You can navigate through all images of that trip by clicking the buttons next to the clock. The button "Großes Bild" switches to larger images.
