Default Other Inland Passenger / Cruise / Hotel Boats

Well I've just been looking at Jack's excellent thread for Dutch Inland Passenger / Cruise and hotel boats. There are some fantastic photos in there of some weird and wonderful vessels - and I was thinking that there must be plenty of other passenger and / or hotel boats on the inland waterways of the world.

If I've failed in my check of the threads, tell me and I'll move these elsewhere - but if not, what have we got that would live here?
    Cheers,

    Mark.

So - here's my entire collection that may fit in this thread - hopefully the rest of you have got more!!

Here we're on the Kennet and Avon Canal in the west of England, close to the stunning Regency spa town of Bath. This is the junction with the short spur that's left of the Somerset Coal Canal, where the K&A soars across the River Avon and rail connection from Bath to the south coast.

Lady Margaret and Lady Selena - hotel boats belonging to Ladyline Hotel Boats (www.ladylinehotelboats.co.uk) are lashed alongside each other and passing over the aqueduct, away from Bath and towards Bradford on Avon - and onward to the magnificent Caen Hill flight of locks, Devizes, Pewsey and on towards the Thames at Reading.

The boats are beautiful, the aqueduct is stunning, the valley is wonderful and there are plenty of people out and about enjoying the scene. On the hotel boats the passengers are enjoying their lazy holiday and looking forward to their dinner, prepared by the resident crew.

VERY INTESTING! Do you have any photos inside the boats? I briefly looked at the website but do not totally understand how it works. Do the owners Linda and Andy live in one boat and the other is for the guests?

Hi - I'm not quite sure how it works with this lot - just was intrigued as they came past us on the canal.

Obviously there are lots of 'self-drive' canal boat hires on the UK's rivers and canals, but these hotel boats are a little more unusual. There are limitations to the size of vessel that you can get through the canal, hence the selection of two narrowboats in this case.

More information from some of the other folks doing this:

    http://www.hotelboat-holidays.co.uk/

    http://www.hotelboat.co.uk/

    http://www.reedboats.co.uk/boats/boats.html

We have watched similar boats (no pictures - sorry!) come up the flight of locks at Caen Hill (picture below) - that was very, very hard work for the crew.

During a holiday in Hungary I’ve seen some passenger ships and will add them to this thread.

The one in #10 is particularly cute Jack. She's a bit reminiscent of some of the swiss lake boats, perhaps like this beauty on Lake Brienz (although of course this one's got paddles!).

This "contraption" seen in Singapore today:

I don't know where she is normally cruising, but it is hopefully in some protected "inland" waters somewhere.

I would be interested to know the history of this one, surely it was not built in that configuration? Please not!

The "contraption" does not feature in the Fleet List for Glenn Defense Marine: http://www.glenndefensemarine.com/po...tpage&Itemid=1
Not as Marine Asset or as Ferry.

PS> She is in DNV Class. Pax Capacity: 401
