Are you allowed to go fishing? That looks like a good spot.

Not an FPSO, but an FSO...

FSO "Apollo Spirit" was towed to, and laid up, in Bøvågen (just south of Haugesund), Norway, today.

Turret, with mooring chains and raisers:

Moored in 1320 m. Water Depth with a 10-legged combination of chains-wire chain attached to anchor piles in the seabed.

How is the production unit connected to the field? I expect to see a large pipe coming up in the center of the turret so the FPU can swing with the wind but it just looks like mooring cables & chains.

The yellow bits are Risers, bringing Production Fluid to surface and sending Gas back into the ground. There are also some umbilicals, which contains the hydraulic pipes and electric cables to control the wellheads on the seabed.

This particular FPSO has 17 slots for risers and 5 swivels to transfer the liquids from the stationary part (Turret) to the revolving part (the Ship) and one swivel to transfer electric power.

Here is a bit about the FPSO Kikeh: http://cargo-vessels-international.a...IMO7351812.pdf

And about the Kikeh Field development:

Here is some of the technology that went into developing the sub-sea part of the Kikeh Field:

PS> The large Construction Support Vessels (CSV) you see regularly on CVF are used to put all these things together in up to 3000 m. of water.
