There is another specialized type of vessels without their own thread on CVF, the Pure Care and Truck Carriers (PCTC). Not the most streamlined vessels, but there is a lot of them.

To kick it of, here are a some typical samples seen in Singapore a few days ago.

Seeing so many big box car carriers makes me wonder how many sets of chains they carry to lash the cars. They probably measure it in tones and it must take a day or two to lash the cargo.

For ordinary cars only web slings and ratchets are used. Drivers and Lashing gangs from shore at work while loading or discharging at a great rate of cars/hr.

Even for heavier cargoes on NAFI Trailers are lashed with web slings:


But you are right, they probably carry tons of lashings like these:


Chains are only used really heavy cargo, which is not normally carried on PCTC vessel, (as the name implies) but on other Ro/Ro carriers.
