Trips from Singapore to Batam vv
I recently did trips to Batam on two consecutive but very different days.
The first day was wet and windy, but it cleared up before my return.
The second day was sunny, hot and dry.
Since most of the pictures taken on the trips were MOSTLY of ships and boats, I chose to put this in the General Maritime thread.
Starting off as nearly always from Harbourfront, which also houses Singapore Cruise Centre, the first pictures are from there:

Keppel Bay Marina and the new high rise condos coming up:

The Club House at the Marina:

Did I say it was VERY windy?? You can see how the Condos are bending in the wind:
-
Seas breaking at Labrador Park:

That is the entrance to Keppel Harbour from the West.
The new Container Port, Pasir Panjang II is progressing:

A mixture of vessels at Western Anchorage:

A familiar Suction Dredger:

Ahh, she has changed name and home port since last I saw her:

BP Tankers still have a few vessels left:

An AHTS of fairly typical local design:

An Anchor Handler of a different type:

This one handling anchor for dredgers and construction barges working in the harbour.

A Bucket Dredger hard at work:

But it is not all work and no play:

For some at least, not for the undersigned.
Kusu Island with it's famous temple:

A must for devotees to visit here during Hungry Ghost Month, coming up in June.

We are coming out into the open Singapore Strait, with traffic passing by without stopping in Singapore or Batam.
You may be big but I'm faster and nimbler:

Can you get out of my way, I have a golf appointment to keep:
-
OK that is better:

The Pakarang view in reverse. (Almost):

This little fellow is determined:

We'll see more of him in the following.
-
We are almost there. Pulau Sambo Tanker terminal to Stbd.:

Built and operated by Shell, until 1959:

I visited the terminal in 1959 and have never set foot there since.
A bit run down now, but still in operation. Now by Pertamina:

Pu. Sambo Terminal and tugs:

Pulau Babi in the distance. (The island of mistresses):
The wealth is shown in the buildings that have grown up there the last few years.
A Penguin Ferry going the opposite direction:

-
Local crafts at the Public Wharf:

Somebody didn't do bending moment calculations when the loaded this one:

Now that is a handsome boat:
-
We are arriving at Sekupang Ferry Terminal. Sister vessel Waterfront 1 already at the wharf:

That is the end of a 45 min. ferry ride, from Harbourfront, Singapore to Sekupang, Batam.
Now off to one of the many Shipyards in Batam for a Barge inspection.
Homeward bound trip from a different terminal. To follow.
-
Barge Jaya 302
OK, since you are already on Batam, you may as well come along to inspect the Barge Jaya 302 as well.
It is a non-ballastable Deck Cargo Barge, 300 / 90 /20 ft. and approx. 9,000 Dwt.:

It is intended used to transport materials for the Gorgon Project from Indonesia to Dampier in Australia and out to the field, mainly Pipe line equipment.
That means it has to meet strict criteria, incl. the watertight closing on all manhole covers.
-
Lashing points has been installed all along the deck:

New Anchor and Anchor Winch has been installed:

-
All chain Towing bridle has been installed:

And a bridle recover winch:

Not normally seen on simple barges.
An Emergency Towing arrangement is installed at the aft end:
