Some change of plans.
Jan-Olav and his crew is sailing up to Faerder Light, then they'll follow the coastline all the way around southern Norway.
He has no spesific time, but new ETA Haugesund will be some time Wednesday afternoon (in the dark then, Cecilia, for sure. Sorry!), and Bergen 5 hours later.
Then the Bergen arrival/passing will be after 7 PM, and the blue lights should be clearly visible, Tom![]()

My better half making some sandwiches in the kitchen, me in the living room shouting:
-"Hey, darling...., look...., Jan-Olav is just passing "Colour Fantacy" just south of Göteborg!"
From the kitchen:
-"Yeah, yeah, yeah...."
My better half interested in ships, shipping, and such...??? Yeah, sure...![]()
"IF GOD COULD MAKE ANGELS...., WHY IN HELL MAKE MAN?"
Ah...., finally...., "Korsfjord" is entering my AIS!!
Now, let me see; at 14,5 knots from present position 16,4 nautical miles SW of Arendal I guess (purely mathematic, no wind and sea current calculated) she will be around Karmøysundet bridge and our photographer there about 13 hours from now.
That means she will pass in total darkness at around 20:40 local norwegian time.
My calculations then tell me (if they are sailing at speed in the Karmsundet) that her arrival in Bergen will be about an +/- an hour after midnight.
(Can't wait for the captains first sms to see if I'm even close).

If Sterkoder is right, I'm naturally disappointed, but will wait for updated eta's when Captain checks in with you S before I decide whether it's worth trying to change my travel plans or not.
(It is another nice day here and I could have managed the bridge until 4 or 4:30 this afternoon)
First of all let me tell you that i am impressed about the approach during the night. I guess they had to follow the coastline because the waves in the open Kattegat were still critical. Anyway they have to pass the open North Sea passages today, because tomorrow we have wind prediction 8 with hurricane gusts there.
I agree to you, Cecilia. It is worth to wait a while to see their further way. Presently they are speeding with 16 knots, so J-O- seems to hurry up to reach you with the last glance of daylight.
At 10 a.m. the "Deutsche Seewetterdienst" will present his newest prediction. I will check it then and give you information.![]()
Lofoten '07 ...... Nordnorge '11
Our captain checked in at 08:15 as usual () and said they were delayed due to sea current and wind.
His estimate for Haugesund is in the timeframe 7 - 10 PM local norwegian time, so I guess my estimate of 08:40 PM local is as good as any.
His ETA Bergen say 5-6 hours later (meaning after time in Haugesund).
I'm planning the day off to meet the ferry in Molde Thursday, but we'll see...., I think I'll decide later, when the calculation of arrival time is more sure...
"IF GOD COULD MAKE ANGELS...., WHY IN HELL MAKE MAN?"
Decided not to change my flights this evening to ones with a tight connection early tomorrow as I could end up not seeing Korsfjord at all! So I'll be here until about 4:45 when I'll head for the airport for 6pm flight to Oslo, then arrive Molde around 11pm
Will be in Molde all Thursday and Friday.
If I have to see Korsfjord in the dark, I'd rather it at least be in her home port!
Seems to be the best option for you. Maybe you have the possibility to look out for M/S Utsira in Haugesund, a ferry with interesting design. We presented her at another place in the old forum:
http://captainsvoyage.7.forumer.com/...pic.php?t=2291
She left the island at 11 a.m. and is now heading to Haugesund.
And Dyna Bulk from Denmark is approaching to the bridge. Not so exiting, but more than nothing.

She's 2,7 nautical miles SW of Lindesnes Lighthouse, doing 13,5 knots at present time.
Just in are 4 images from our captain, taken by iPhone sent to my iPhone..., so I can't put them out at the moment.
One alongside port side, one alongside starboard side with Lindesnes in the distance, one interior image and the last one showing the instrument readout at 16,9 knots...
Thank you so much, J-O!!!

Now, attention - attention! First pictures by our man on board:
Guess who's homesick? 16,9 knots
Starboard side with what I guess is Lindesnes in the distance

"IF GOD COULD MAKE ANGELS...., WHY IN HELL MAKE MAN?"
Heyyyy! I see very fair weather conditions. Wednesday seems to be the best day of the whole week to do this part of the passage. The guys will be very happy about that.
And dear Cecilia: I am so happy that Gann can minimize your disappointment. It is a pity that they are behind their schedule. But you know, your time window was not really big, if you count in the long distance they had to go up to now... good to know that yours are free miles...
I cross my fingers that they will be behind the coastline when the wind increases tonight and tomorrow.
??? By the way... where is Lookchin???

ETA Sotra bridge near Bergen at 04:00 local norwegian time Thursday morning (you read this Tom? 04:00).
Our captain is prepared to give you blue lights if you're there...
Then a new ETA is coming up for Molde. Sadly, but I understand very well that things have to go as is, they will not be in Molde until Thursday evening.
After docking, the crew will travel to TRD by car, either late Thursday evening or early Friday morning.
Cecilia:
Depending on when they arrive, I would very much like to drive to Molde thursday evening to meet you, and also if possible, Jan-Olav.
I mean you've travelled a long way for this happening in Molde, and I live just 45 minutes away, so...
I'll keep in touch![]()
