This is great news I am so happy and very proud of you Jan-Olav and its nothing less than you deserve. This is going to be a great thread, I just wish (and I think I speak for all of us) that we could be onboard with you for the maiden voyage.

    Godspeed to you Captain Storli
    Regards, Bill.

Big thanks for all the info, which answered what must have sounded like rather stupid questions!

I have some commitments coming up which might be made to link up and actually result in my being in the south of Norway around the days Korsfjord is passing by –and of course catching a glimpse of her during her maiden voyage would be unique and wonderful.
I first flirted with the idea of Haugesund because of remembering passing beneath the Karmsund bridge on Fram’s maiden voyage, but south of Bergen starts to look too complicated.

I am really hoping to be in Molde.

It’s all far too uncertain and vague to bother Captain with sms-ing, but if my trip materialises I should have at least some occasional internet access, and would be eagerly looking out for updates here on this special thread.

This all sounds very exciting i must say! Fantastic news Jan-Olav

It does not seem that long ago when things seemed so different for you, struggling to find a job, the big upheaval moving back from Bangkok etc. But here you are just a year or so further down the line being given the task of bringing the new ship home! Bravo!

I most certainly look forward to seeing your photographic reports of the maiden voyage of the M/F Korsfjord. I wish you a very enjoyable passage!

Can I come too, please, as official scribe reporting on the trip when Cap'n is too busy?

Well, that's Speedbird, and Wherrygirl, and Seagull wanting to be aboard....

For an afternoon, I actually toyed with the idea of flying to Gdansk and seeing the Christening.......until my bank account got a hold of me!!!!!!
It's "only" $850 to fly from Atlanta to Gdansk.....oh, but to see the Captain's face......PRICELESS!!!!
    Cheers!!

Way before we even heard about the christening, I actually was seriously thinking about going to Gdansk and had been looking where Korsfjord was on the AIS and then where that was on Google Earth etc.,
…but then I could all too easily envisage encountering port regulations!!!! Imagine going there and then not even getting anywhere where one could see her (let alone photograph her! )

Very interesting to see such a bulbous bow protruding ahead (and astern) of a Ro Ro like this. This must be the first time i have seen this type of vessel un-ballasted, so i am not sure if it's common for new builds of this type to have bows protruding like this?

Isn't she big, and sleek with it, too? You must be so proud, Jan-Olav. Happy and safe journey home.

    Thumbs up

    Congratulaton Captain.
This is the best looking new building I have seen the last years.
It has got real style. Good-looking if I my say so.

And at last, but not least - she is BLUE.

    Happy and safe maidentrip.
