Default Cruiseships in Norwegian waters - the year of 2011

Cruiseships in Norwegian waters - the year of 2011

With still a winter to get through, we have already started to look forward to the ships coming to visit Norway in the next summer season, the season of 2011.

While we are waiting for the ships, lets fill up Our Forum Calendar with the ship names, dates, etc... let's say, we are all responsible for our own ports.

More and more ports are now making them available on their individual sites.

What will the first and what will be the last ship in 2011?

Trondheim wants to become a turn-around cruise port:

    http://www.tih.no/nyhet/fronter-tron...uhavn-684.aspx

The 2011 cruise list is now available from Trondheim Port:

    http://www.tih.no/nyhet/cruisesesong...9-mai-683.aspx

Starting at May 9th 2011, and the highlight for me will be LeBoreal.

Bergen's small list of cruse calls.
I don't add anything to the calendar umtil they update this list.
There's 3 calls that have to be removed, several they have to change dates and at least 3 more to add again

I'm kind of disappointed that there is only 40 some announced cruise ships coming to Trondheim over the whole season...

    Over 3-4 months, that ain't a lot...

It always makes me smile when I see you add a new year to the cruise season thread....means that summer is coming!!!

I wish Trondheim WOULD be a turn around port......would give SOMEONE some incentive to stay a while.....
    Cheers!!

If you already have some information about 2012, then I vote for the creation of a new thread...

So far, I'm just too disappointed by Trondheim's low numbers for this year.

A Norwegian article which explains why Norway and Norwegian shops is loosing half a billion kroner when cruise ships arrive in Norway:

    http://www.dagbladet.no/2011/02/15/t...iske/15441765/

Bad signage, and the Euro is not accepted anywhere.

"Marco Polo" opens this year's cruise season in Tromsø with the call today.
There was a break in between snow showers so I could take this picture.

What a splendid day/night pair of photos! And as pakarang has said, a brilliant start to the “cruise new year”

Fantastic photos. I so much wanted to be onboard for this cruise but it wasn't to be. Seeing your photos just makes me wonder if I could sail on the third of this series.

    Fantastic, Bengt!!!
I'm thrilled to see your images of this beautiful classic, the cruise season has officially been opened, and I just found out that this might be the year I'll get to see QM2 in real life for the very first time

Don't be alarmed! She's not visiting KSU, but as the port authority in Ålesund just released their cruise ship list 2011, I see QM2 will visit ASU both 16. July and 7. August.
We'll see, as both dates are week-ends, ASU is just 2,5 hours away by car from KSU

(And as this wasn't enough, my laptop is working again..., YUHUUUU!!!).

    Thank you for the comments.

An unexpected arrival of the "Marco Polo" this morning.

"Marco Polo" sailed to Tromsø in the night due to bad weather, the ship was on the way from Alta to Aalesund, but chose to anchor up in Tromsø strait instead to await for better weather.

In a few seconds the ship disappears in the snow showers.

    Thank you Ralf
All I can say about the weather,it has been bad many places in north Norway the last 24 hours or so.

Two images of "Marco Polo" in the afternoon / evening darkness.
I reckon that they leave Tromsø in the evening if they believe that the weather is okay to sail further south.

The fist call to Bergen was today because of the bad weather in the north that canceled the first call to Ålesund & Bergen 2 weeks ago, but today was a nice start in 2011 "down here"
