Hurtigruten ASA takes "Nordlys" out of the buoys to sail for "Richard With".
"Nordlys" will sail from Bergen 29th January due to the preparations needed after some time of retirement....

I am very surprised, because i would have expected they want to save the money...
For me this is another sign they are bad calculators...

The housewife in me (tiny though it may be) wonders how much there is to do to get Nordlys ready for guests........

For me this is astonishing, too, because there were news that the consumption of electric power is incredibly high, while she is waiting there. So in my opinion all systems were running and it should not be so much preparation. Maybe some of our ship specialists are able to tell us something.

Naturally, storing and filling up the ship with fresh food is the first thing that comes to mind, thereafter there are numerous checks of water pipes and flushing toilets, check of main engines and auxiliary engines...

It's very easy to destroy important systems when a ship is laid up improperly, especially when the ship starts getting under way again.

Then, there is also the question of crewing the vessel as well...

I'm quite sure there are many more items also on the list.

So nice to see her back into service again.... I saw he in Aandalsnes on 21st of January.... and at that time, she looked rather empty and alone.

Now, she look like she is back to life, with people on deck and smoke rising from the funnel.

About out-dated and belated maybe, but here are the images from Aandalsnes which I was talking about. She was empty, she had a list and I could only spot one soul on board in a stateroom window behind the bridge on port side:

Nice pictures Jan-Olav....., but nope..., I like her better in her "right" way of use: as an operating hurtigrute.
And here she is, three hours ago, about to enter Kristiansund harbour on her southbound voyage...

And 5 minutes later, she's moored for about an hour at Devoldholmen

Great to see her back in buissness I have seen her too many times alone in the cold and dark at Åndalsnes.
