    I suppose it is good to see all of them heavily loaded. The river levels must be good.

    yes after a dry period,the floods came.
    ''fides'' was at the rhine,but the rest was taken in Ghent and that is behind the locks of Terneuzen holland.
    although Ghent is inland,it is a seaport connected with a big deep canal between Terneuzen and Ghent that can handle big vessels

    I spend too much time next to a little English canal, so some of the Dutch cargo ships make my mind boggle through their sheer size. Some more of these to come, but as a start how about Herkules XVI shepherding six barges up the Oude Maas last weekend. Not brilliant photos - largely 'cos I was so astonished at the size of what was passing me!!

    Not sure if this should actually be in the hotel room thread, but this was the view from our room at Hotel ARA - the bank meant you couldn't see all of the water, but there was some rather expensive shipping real estate gliding past - another 'pusher' for Thijs.
