[S|S Blue Lady] Under tow by Mubarak Marine?

During her last days at sea, there was many rumors that the ship was towed via Dubai or another place in the Emirates, though this was never confirmed by anyone, nor by any picture.

Yesterday however, I came across this image from Mubarak Marine's website:



Could anyone please confirm to me, are these the two tugs which towed the ship from Bremerhaven or from Port Kelang?

What was the names of the tugs which towed the Blue Lady?

The tug that took her from Bremerhaven was the 'De Da', a 1979 built ocean going tug. The 'De Da' was still with the Norway when they stopped for bunkers off Cape Town, she was relieved of her tow for a short while by other tugs whilst she put into Cape Town for bunkers and supplies.

Neither of the tugs in your post are the 'De Da', so maybe they are the one's that took her from Port Kelang?

EDIT: Point of interest, the 'De Da' was the tug that was towing the 'SS Constitution' (sister of the 'SS Independence'), when she sank on her way to the breakers.

You are correct, when you mention it, I do remember the tug De Da, but did she perform the tow alone?

Anyone able to identify the tugs which towed the ship from Port Kelang?

I also seem to remember that Smit International towed the ship from Miami to Bremerhaven, but my records of which tugs are lost...

why?looking at 2 images the name is to long for smitwijs londen (when you scroll down you she that see departs from miami)
so left smitwijs rotterdam and smitwijs singapore

this is the stern of the rotterdam or londen,because the singapore has a anchor handling stern

'De Da' being assisted by harbour tugs. As far as i know, i am pretty sure 'De Da' was the only tug involved once she had left harbour limits.

June 27, 2003: S/S NORWAY departed Miami under tow though no destination was announced. After last-minute wrestling in court, Norwegian Cruise Line moved the crippled ship from the Port of Miami-Dade. NCL said that to meet the repair schedule, the ship had to leave, even though no yard has finalized a repair contract. According to reports, she is headed to Europe. The ship has been at the port since the boiler expolsion May 25 and has run up a nearly $284,000 bill in dock fees. The National Transportation Safety Board finished its investigative work last week and turned the ship back over to the cruise line. The NTSB has not reached any conclusions about what caused the blast. The seagoing tug SMITWIJS ROTTERDAM is towing NORWAY with 85 of her crew onboard. The transatlantic crossing will take approximately three weeks. NCL state that the ship is on schedule to begin cruising again on October 5th, 2003.

Yes, i have seen that video before, that may well have been the very last time the 'Norway' made that wonderful sound.

So, we have confirmed the tugs from Miami to Bremerhaven, and the tug from there to Port Kelang, now we need to identify the tug that took her on her final voyage to Alang, the mystery part of her history, did she stop at, or near Dubai?, or did she go straight to Alang? What was the name of the tug that took her from Port Kelang?????

May 5, 2006: BLUE LADY is towed away from Port Klang, Malaysia, destination appears to be Alang, India. Notes on tugs: 1976-built INTERSURF (ex BOA PRINCE) and SEAWAYS 5 (ex DEYMOS) are towing BLUE LADY.

But i would like to see some photo evidence to back this up.

(SEAWAYS 5 towed the 1953-built laker OAKGLEN and the 1959-built laker SEAWAY QUEEN together to Alang in 2004).

According to Raoul Fiebig of http://www.ruderhaus.de he has also had confirmation on her position at the southern tip of India within the last couple of days. According to his contact, the two vessels towing the Norway are Seaway 5 and Intersurf. His contact also stated that AIS were on and working at both vessels and destination was listed as Alang. Kosten: The other tug - the "Intersurf", I have not been able to find any decent photos of her but have found that it also went by the name "ADC Prince", "Boa Prince", "Scotsman", "Osa Raider", "Lowland Raider" and was built by Ulstein Hatloe in Norway for Taubaat Komapniet.

I am also asking the question, 'How were Mubarak Marine involved'? They are based near Dubai? I have looked through their archives and cannot find any mention of towing either 'Blue Lady' or 'Norway', unless i missed it. Did they tow her from Port Kelang?, the two tugs mentioned on maritimematters are not showing in Mubaraks fleet.

I have also tried tracing an image of the two tugs we now seem to have confirmed towed the ship the last voyage: Seaways 5 and Intersurf.

So far, I haven't been able to get a good image of either.
