It has been quiet around this vessel for a while, but here is the latest from Forest McMullen just received:
Dear Capt. Bugge,
I did not hear back from you before we departed the East coast. The frithjof had a good crossing and before we even made landfall, I had work calling me to captain a research icebreaker in Antarctica. So the frithjof is safe and sound at the royal cork yacht club in Ireland. I have been receiving numerous private inquiries regarding FW from England Denmark & Germany but to date, nothing has transpired from Norway. As you know, being a custodian of the vessel for some time, I would feel best if she went to her homeland under my watch. In your best opinion, is there no interest for her in Norway? I will be spending substantial time in Europe in 2010 as I am looking at property in NW Spain or Southern France for longterm domicile, Forest
I have had no response to all the posts on this and other forums and e-mails sent earlier, nor has Forest, but he is NOT giving up finding here a home in Norway.
She is now in Ireland and can more easily be inspected. I successful Atlantic crossing should vouch for her condition and seaworthiness, however.
Maybe some new visitors here since then could be interested?
Here is a few pics not posted before, just to remind you of what she looks like after restoration:
Just before leaving USA:
Sorry, no pics from the Atlantic crossing or at RCYC, but I'll try to get some.

I wonder, could this be a former rescue vessel?
Looks like a Colin Archer styled sail boat, spotted at Ila, Trondheim:

Hi.
I`m new here, and I found this forum while I was googling for old rescue crafts and Colin Archer.
We have recently became the happy owners of a Colin Archer redningskoyte and I have started a web page for her if anyone would like to have a look at her. (Link: http://rs28sandefjord.dinstudio.no/)
There is a lot to tell about her at her historypage, and I try to work on this regulary.
(Probably you know, but there is also a club with a web page for former rescuevessels: http://www.dnvf.no/ )
A warm welcome on board our ship as well, lestl: a ship by the name of CaptainsVoyage and filled with some of the most friendliest crew members around.....
Thank you very much for sharing your link and congratulations on your new boat! Should there be anything we can be of service with, we'd be both honored and glad to see what we can do for you!

A warm welcome to our new member!!!!!
I knew there was a difference in size between the two classes of SAR-vessels, but that it was so big, I didn't know...., until I saw them together:

Thank you for a warm welcome to this forum
Nice picture who really show the difference of the two rescuevessels.
Welcome lestl. I have just been having a look at your website with delight (and thank you for the English translations there too which makes it much easier for me!!) I look forward to more of Sandefjords history, and also new adventures you have with her in the future.![]()
Thank you very much Gaelsail, those are really wonderful images of a very good looking vessel.
Seeing the Hjalmar Bjørge with a dark blue hull really pleases my eye... this is a very good color for these type of ships: almost exclusive looking.

The Frithjof Wiese is still in Ireland and Forest McMullen is still looking for a buyer for this already restored Colin Archer rescue cutter:
Here is latest e-mail from Forest:
Just returned from four months on an icebreaker in Antarctica and will be taking Frithjof Wiese to Germany. There is more interest there for her and just following up with you on if you have heard much from Norway in regard to her to date. I trust you had a happy holidays and new year, Forest.
It would be a pity to let this fine sample of a Norwegian Rescue Cutter get into foreign hands again and pop up on the Norwegian coast under German flag. Isn't there somebody in Norway that could be interested and at least try an offer???![]()
Well, if you don't have the money needed for a buy and keep, you don't buy. If you know you would not get enough time to own and keep such a beautiful vessel, you don't buy. And if you already are deep into maritime history and own one of the colin archers, you don't buy.Isn't there somebody in Norway that could be interested and at least try an offer???
What I wonder is: have this particular vessel been put up for sale in Norway, in norwegian magazines, newspapers or whatever? How much effort has been put into keeping it from not being sold to other countries than Norway, other than publicity via this forum.
Just wonder, because I've never seen a "For Sale" announcement for this vessel other places![]()
