Default Norwegian Rescue Vessels of Redningsselskapet.

    Norwegian Rescue Vessels of Redningsselskapet.

At our old home, we followed this group of Norwegian rescue vessels belonging to Redningsselskapet in this thread: http://captainsvoyage.7.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=360

With this new thread, I intend to continue collecting stories and pictures of these vessels here.

Love the tiny blue curtains in the forward lounge of Erik Bye...

Is it just me, am I just being picky, or is this a rather strange and tall-looking construction? The proportions seems to be a little odd...

Seen from my point of view, so it appears that the building is over largely to the hull. There is certainly nice to have a 360 degree viewing angle around the vessel from the bridge, but it looks very strange and highly. But the vessel is certainly very useful to their utilization . But she is not a beauty.

You made my big smile of the day Pakarang! – I’ve been laughing at the thought that if it had been ehp who had said “Love the tiny blue curtains in the forward lounge of Erik Bye...” you would have been saying what a girlie comment that was!

Anyway, this has reminded me about this excellent thread. I was pleased when you produced the list of these vessels, as the idea of ticking off those I’ve seen rather appeals to me. But although they seem a familiar sight along the coast, I am rather ashamed to find an absence of photos in my collection.
This I will remedy in future! Anyway I did come up with just one, RS112 Emmy Dyvi, photographed in Ålesund in February 2004.

Laughing Ralf--absolutely laughing!!!! When I read Jan-Olav's post, I had to look at it a second time because I thought I had posted it and couldn't remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admire a man who notices furniture and fixtures....I've been known to go for weeks before someone in my house says "did you paint this room?".....

Both the blue and the red curtains are quite nicely coordinated with their respective ships. I'm very pleased that I have been able to train you both to look for the nice little touches along the way.....

But if I start to hear you commenting on variations in rose-covered chintz, I will draw the line................
    Cheers!!

I was going through my Finnmarken photos when to my delight I found I’d taken a photograph of another of these rescue vessels:
    RS 105 Ruth Opsahl
Photographed 2008 September 28 in Bodø.

I know that the website of NSSR does indeed hold an image of most of the vessels but I would at the same time see if we could manage to create our own image-fleet-list.

If you happen to see one of them, and are able to photograph them, please add them to this thread. I will do my part of the job to ensure I collect as many as possible as well.

If you wish to create your own country's rescue vessel thread, such as for example the lifeboats in England, please feel more than welcome to open a new thread for your country.

Olav Ringdal (number 56) is she a wooden vessel and a converted Colin Archer?

Surprised to see her wooden decks and wooden frames in the aerial shot...

She looks great as a small yacht though!
