Thank you for the great detail photos Thijs.

Nice pictures of rigs at CCB by Albatros.
Here is a not so sharp picture of the Champion Field offshore Brunei Darussalam:
This is one of the first offshore fields in S.E.Asia. Developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Still going strong.

Wow, there are so many platforms you could almost walk across without getting your feet wet.
Thanks for the nice feedback ombugge.
There is in fact 40 Platforms in the Champion Field today and more may be added, as drilling continues.
Here is a link to a BSP site with a short history of Oil & Gas exploration in Brunei Darussalam, including the Champion Field: https://www.bsp.com.bn/main/aboutbsp/about_oil_gas.asp

MODU ENSCO 8504 drilling in Brunei Deep Water for Total:
As seen from the Kikeh Field off Sabah, East Malaysia
The Kikeh Field is situated offshore Sabah, about 65 n.mile from Labuan FT and in water depth between 1,200 -1,400 m. It is developed with a single Surface unit and a FPSO, with a number of sub-sea wellhead clusters.
The surface unit is a SPAR, known as the Dry Tree Unit (DTU).
This is unusual outside GOM and this is the first one in S.E.Asia.
Originally SPAR was developed as off-loading facilities for the Condeep Platforms in the North Sea, but the concept was developed into full size Production Units for deep water fields in GOM. Soon SPARs will be used to develop new fields in Norway. (Aasta Hansteen and Luva Field off Northern Norway)
Here is the Kikeh DTU/SPAR with a Tender Assisted Drilling Unit (TAD) at work:

A Boat Landing is arranged to transfer personnel to/from the DTU/SPAR:
It is nominally unmanned, but inspection and maintenance personnel has to the transferred from time to time.
The TAD is moored to the DTU/SPAR:
The Drill Packet is placed on the SPAR:
All other drilling equipment is on the Tender.
This is the Semi-submersible Drilling Tender West Menanga:

Equipment is transferred to/from the Drill Floor by Hi-Line:

Tenders are a type Drilling Units that is common in S.E.Asia and West Africa, but not anywhere else. Used for Development drilling from fixed platforms. Kikeh is the only deep water application of this technology, as far as I know.
In the very early years of offshore drilling there were two small Tender Assisted Jack-up rigs in S.E Asia, the Bali Dolphin and the D.M.Sounders, but they are long gone.
