"Oasia" ex.Saga Ruby arrived Bhavnagar (India) today and anchored in anticipation of its final journey to the beach at Alang to be dismantled.
For this is the end of a fantastic voyage for this cruise ship started back in 1973.
    Sad but true.

I will honor the ship with a picture from Tromsø taken on March 25, 2009

That is a true beautiful picture of a Lady at the end of her journey... too sad to think about her being at the place she is now.

      My humble tribute: http://www.captainsvoyage.com/its-a-...ion-at-77.html

"Oasia" was beached wednesday afternoon in Alang.
They left the anchorage area and turned off the AIS transmitter.
This was the last voyage for "Oasia" and she is now history.

Oh...... how terribly sad to see her go. I had no personal connection to the ship other than remember seeing her a lot during my childhood years. She was such a beautiful vessel. Truly classical and so well proportioned.

Imagine being a witness to the beaching of the ship - that must be truly heartbreaking.

She has served the world well - millions of guests and millions of miles.

Now, this was a waste. She was such a beautiful ship, and nothing (as I know) happened to her after arriving in Thailand for lay up.

She was also too beautiful to be scrapped so prematurely.

At this moment the one after the other got scrapped.
It seems we're at the point that they are all at there end of time

I wonder, if there will be really built the first vintage liner and we will experience a revival. It is working with cars, why not with ships?

Wel Qm2 is a sort of oceanliner.
And we get a titanic 2, but real oceanliners???
I hardly believe, beautiful l8nes costs to much space,
Lost space which also could be cabines for paying people.

Wel Qm2 is a sort of oceanliner.
What do you MEAN???? "sort of"

Well yes, you have a point there.

The reason why I think QM2 is not an ocean liner, just a wannabe ocean liner, is because she has no sway in her decks.

An ocean liner of the real kind, doesn't have straight decks but a certain curve to each deck. What was that called in English again? Shear?
