The first 42 seconds of the movie is real Titanic footage and the only footage of her, the rest is shot on the Olympic including Captain Smith in his summer uniform.

Incidently, the tubes coming down from Titanic on her starboard side are actually connected to the workmans toilets, there were another set further aft

From what I have understood.... hard-a-starboard OR hard-a-port would not have any effect but to pass the iceburg either on the left side or the right side. What the problem was is that the engines were also ordered full reverse or stop which would have rendered any steering almost useless. Am I wrong???

I think this is a load of rubbish and is either designed to put a smoke screen over her gradfathers errors on the night of the sinking or most proberbley to sell more books. I am not saying that Charles Lightoller is a liar but his accounts of what happened that night have proven to be unreliable.

The whole story sounds strange. Tiller steering was only on small boats, even 100 years ago. Even with Tiller steering the order would be for the direction of the turn, Port or Starboard, which is universally used. (Only the US Navy use "Left or Right Rudder" to my knowledge)

To see an Iceberg more 2 miles away would be difficult, especially on a dark night with no moon, even if there were no fog or mist.

Is there any collaborating evidence that the Titanic kept on steaming after the collision?? (Now I start to sound like a Lawyer)

I think we can safely say that this is rubbish and not based on facts.

Edith: Steering affect would be reduced when the engines were reversed, but not entirely lost until the headway was too slow for the rudder to function, which would take several minutes for a very large and fast ship like the Titanic, with minimal astern power.

Another point which I find "strange" is the statement that the ship was/got stuck ontop of the iceberg. It was only when she pulled herself off the iceberg, she started taking on water....

Excellent, because channel4 doesn't permit us to watch anything online from Norway, in that link above.

                          Very excited....
