Re: RMS Titanic of the White Star Line

A lot of Titanic is coming up int he media this days... with the 100 year anniversary coming up.

James Cameron has made a whole lot of trips down to the wreck... perhaps more than anyone else?

33 so far, in connection with his movie: Ghosts of the Abyss.

        Norwegian tv-channel NRK1 at 20:55 Sunday 1. April:
Innesperret i Titanic (Trapped in the Titanic)

A 1 hour 35 minutes British documentary focusing on the masses of water, and how it would change from calm to totally hell, and show how the Titanic sank into the deep.
The makers of this documentary say that it is a tribute to those who died and that it is filmed in a very special way.

For foreign viewers, I would guess this also is viewable on NRK web-tv.
Some might also have seen it on british tv-channels for all I know.

Have you guys seen this yet?
In 2006 they had a new theory on how she sank. New findings on the wreck makes them think that the angel she had over the water before she broke was much lower. The documentary on NRK, which clearly was made based upon this new theory, made me search a little into it and I found this. The clip is only a snippet out of a documentary.
I havent seen it in this thread earlier, but sorry if it's been posted earlier

I think Ken Marschall, the Titanic-historian, is along on this theory, which makes it trustworthy, pluss it would make sense since many of the survivors hadnt seen that she didn't broke in two pieces before she sank..

Today, Fred. Olsen Cruises "Balmoral" sailed out from Southamton to do a memorial cruise across the Atlantic in the same track as "Titanic" did 100 years ago.
At the night 15. April 2:00 AM, the ship will halt directly over the site where the "Titanic" wreck is situated. A short seremony will take place, before "Balmoral" will sail further on to New York.

Barmoral docked in Cobh 2 hours ago assisted by the tug Gerry O'Sullivan. Lots of events on this week in Cobh to commemorate the Titanics visit there. Full details here http://www.titanic100.ie/

I really highly very positively doubt that a new Titanic will ever be built... I would love to sail on a replica, yes, but this was also in the news so many years ago (in the 90's...) and back then, they were almost ready to start building within a few months... A LOI was also signed back then, but nothing ever came out of it.
