This will be a tremendous job, and with the lack of support and the already high number of veteran ships in Norway, I highly doubt she will ever be saved.

    BUT.

I would love to be proved wrong.

I'm not trying to take guts away from anyone, but being realistic and having "Gamle Salten" in mind as one vessel of almost this type preserved and in service, I belive strongly that "Skog°y" will never see norwegian waters again.
There simply aren't enough interested people and free money.
It doesn't help with thousands of members in a Facebook-group, when the real world needs people physically working on the vessel....
(Sorry..., but I've seen too many wrecks along the docks and would not want to see one more).

            A sad sight.

A sad sight indeed, so all my thoughts goes to those that are trying to save her from an almost certain death.

Could this be "Skog°y" at Ejnar S. Nielsen in Harstad? (HaMek today)

                http://www.tdm.no/Fotominner/index.a...NoCash=VtmZBLM

Found the pictures at S°r Troms Museum, they have a great collection of pictures, if you search for "bňt" or "bňter" you'll find lots of great pictures.

Re: Save the old M/S Skog°y

Skog°y in happier days, arriving at SvolvŠr on what was possibly the one fine day in July 1975. A fine-looking little motorship that deserves a better fate, though unfortuntely age is not on her side. The Skog°ysvenner website has an excellent slide show of her final commercial sailing from Narvik.

Oh, how I wish I had seen this ship while I was in Stockholm last week. I had completely forgotten about her, but had I remembered her, I would surely try to get some new images.

Is she still at her side in Ekero outside of Stockholm... anyone in Sweden which can confirm, or possibly help us with some new, fresh images?

I'll see if I can take a drive out to Eker÷ during next week.

I stumbled on a fairly new picture of Skog°y taken on the 17th july, you can find it half way down on the page:
                          http://www.askjoh.se/2011_07_15_3.htm
Pity that it's taken from such a long distance from the vessel.

Thanks... oh, how I wish I had remembered this while I was in Stockholm! I would have definitely gone to find it.

So today I drove to Eker÷ to take some pictures of the Skog°y. The vessel is clearly visible from the main road coming from Stockholm. So this is what you will see if you go to Eker÷ by car.

Someone has tried to lighten up the situation and painted "K─RLEK" = "LOVE" on the hull.

And doesn't this look like a heart?

                              More love.

There seemed to be some kind of construction work going on behind the ship.
