  • D/S Børøysund

A programme from the steamers jubelee tour earlier this year will be sent on the norwegian broadcasting channel NRK1 29th December at 19:45

I guess it will be available on www.nrk.no and their internet-tv also...
"IF GOD COULD MAKE ANGELS...., WHY IN HELL MAKE MAN?"

Can't wait for that program to start - all alarm clocks are properly adjusted for this event.

        Oh'boy......, what a documentary!!!!!

I wouldn't even try to say anything about the programme, other than it was way too short....

And what is happening with me?? A grown man born in the early 60's wiping some tears away from his eyes....., am I going soft or what...?
But what else can we expect with those beautiful pictures in the most wonderful landscape with that beauty of a ship and delightful music in the background.

I am full of admiration for the people taking care of "Børøysund"....., you hear that, 'Harald Jarl'...?

        Congratulation with the 100 years!!!

Very interesting program and great opening scene of the 100 year old veteran in high seas... Loved the blue skies and calm waters in almost every scene. That cruises, sailing with such an old vessel, must have been a truly unique experience.

I wish we could see some more of the photographs taken on board by many during the summer voyage up north.

Oh, only one complaint... the program was way too short.

Well worth another short 30 minutes for those that both have access and time to see it.

On the other hand, let's see if we can gather some great images of this 100 year old veteran in this thread. Let us see what this old Lady still can do!

I just love the opening scene where she under a blue summer's sky negotiates some heavy swell. Look at how she rides, it is almost a dream come true to see it: just wish I could see if for real some day.

Last Monday DS Børøysund was used in a movie. It is a NRK (Norwegian broadcasting) production. Don't know the name of it.

Øistein - Thank you very much for those winter shots of the ship! Looks awesome with the icy fjord surrounding her hull!

NRK has really been making a lot of interesting programs lately!

Including the one you mentioned above. I repeatedly watch them...

Forbundet Kystens Veteran-ships meeting in Kristiansand (Bragdøya)

I just scanned som pictures from a veteran-vessel-meeting at Bragdøya Kystkultursenter just outside Kristiansand, Norway.

When I was "cruising" in my small boat I ran into these wonderful old steamers a summerday in 2002.

                              Image 1 and 2 shows D/S "Børøysund"

                              Image 3 shows D/S "Atløy"

Image 4 shows D/S "Granvin" who was used as a ferry to transport passengers in and out to the city of Kristiansand on this particular meeting.

                              "Børøysund"

                              "Børøysund"

                              "Atløy"

                              "Granvin"

Børøysund some of us know from different TV-programs.
But I don`t know much about Granvin and Atløy. So I have started an own thread for each of them as well. Hoping that some of you knows a bit more about them.
