Re: Vessels found in the old shoe box

What a sad story.... sank right after her launch, just like the Wasa ship!

We had a long post (thread) about the Kungsholm here before, but I can't seem to be able to find it.....

Anyhow, it seems like the ship will be returned to Gothenburg as a hotel ship. As you all know, she is now sitting in Duqum in the Middle East as a luxurious hotel ship.

The news can be found in this Swedish article: http://www.gp.se/nyheter/goteborg/1....-till-goteborg

I still can't find the long thread we had about Kungsholm ----- where has that thread gone, I wonder?

Anyway... it seems like they have signed a Letter of Understanding to purchase the ship and take her back to Sweden from her hotelship career at Duqm, Oman:

Looks like this amazing ship has ended her days at Alagia in Turkey: the AMAZING GRACE: first, the way I remember her from Saint Maarten, then her final image:

According to this article in Swedish press, the KUNGSHOLM will soon be moved to Sweden as a hotel ship, perhaps as early as June-July.

As you all probably know, she is now the hotel ship VERONICA docked in OMAN.

Oh, how sad.... it seems like this increadible vessel is also at her end, if fate does not intervene soon.

Seems like the KUNGSHOLM is on her final journey these days... miracles are as most times, just dreams and wishes:

The tug is for the moment waiting for the very last change to save her. Time runs, money talks, maritime Sweden is holding it's breath.

I hope and pray but reality is always so much worse. I think if they haven't acted by now, the hour glass is empty.

I'm sure you all have seen this image, this utterly sad image of the Veronica on the beach at Alang in India. She eventually reached the end of her voyage.

Another beauty is disappearing. But nowadays too less passengers would book a cabin with such small portholes instead of balconies.
